Me, I' d move the figures to the boring stretch above Fantasyland on the MK railroad. Get some Duck family back in the MK.

Sounds like a good idea to me! (Though actually putting in a show building and diorama would be the ideal thing; it's crazy that the MK railroad doesn't have any unlike all the other castle park RRs).

I love the Grand Canyon dioramas! Such a shame the MK doesn't have that. Our railroad is the most boring one of all.
I guess that once something is up and running, you don't really revisit it anymore. Phase II's never get build.

CMM shows what you can achieve in perfectly lovable scenery and show scenes with a tiny budget. A stream with a few Ducks and everybody's happy. They remind me a bit of the topiaries that were installed as filller between the TTC and Contemporary in the 70s and 80s. Perfectly simple, perfectly lovable.

This is truly tragic.

But wanna know what's funny? Ricky B. traveled to Anaheim to get his picture taken with a foamhead.

I never actually bothered to go to Camp Minnie-Mickey until last month, since I knew it was going to be destroyed.
Gotta say, for a placeholder area they actually did a reasonably clever job with the theming.
The best part, I thought, was how they kind of made the incongruity of having the Festival of the Lion King there work. The theater they present the show in really does look like the kind of simple auditoriums I've seen at larger scout/summer camps, albeit on a massive scale and with better lighting. I also liked the cast member "camp counselor" outfits and the way they referred to guests as "campers."

Sure, the whole thing was done on the cheap, but you've got to hand it to the leads there for trying to make it work.

Honestly that sounds terrible

I meant are there any streams of water along the tracks like the streams of water seen at CMM where the figures were?
Not really. But there is a huge canal right next to the tracks. But the stream at CMM is a pretty intricate piece of work, with plenty of real rocks and fake rockwork thrown in.

It will not be duplicated in the MK. It does show that with a comparatively tiny budget you could really bring some life into an area.

WDW has this 'outdoors Americana' theme down to perfection. Every time they try their hand at it it works out beautifully. River Country, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, parts of Frontierland and Tom Sawyer Island, the camp aspect of CMM. I love it, every single time! It even works with a Duck family overlay.

This area was an idea that never reached its potential. So much could and should have been done with a North American wilderness area. Ah well. At least FOTLK is going to an area that makes more sense for it. Now its just NEMO thats the only misplaced show in AK.

Well, River Country is long gone, and I really can't see those figures appearing in Frontierland or at Wilderness Lodge. They both would seem pretty jarring if the figures were placed in either of those areas, and in the case of Wilderness Lodge, unless I'm mistaken, it's themed to national parks, and I thought that national parks forbade fishing. I really don't know much about Fort Wilderness, beyond the fact that it's a campground and not necessarily the kind of camp that CMM is supposed to be.

And what is this Duck family overlay anyway?

Because there's never been fishing (or hiking) in national parks before.....

There is fishing.

And even if there wasn't, the figures would still fit. Not everything has to be a literal interpretation. Not at a theme park, or its resorts.

I just thought that national parks were for the protection and well-being of animals, all animals, as well as places for tourists to visit (not that they can at the moment with the government shutdown and all).

Here's the thing: I have Asperger's Syndrome, and as such, I have a tendency to take things very literally. The thing is, I have a tendency to over-analyze things, so that they fit just right. My background is mostly in Disneyland, which is of course much, much smaller than WDW.

Now, to the Empress Lilly, I have a question: where is this Duck family overlay at?

The national parks are for those who enjoy the outdoors, be it hiking, fishing, camping or hunting, just to name a few....
