Heres what the Tron type coaster looks like but in this case it's horses.
Not quite. That's a standard Zamperla model.
The Tron ride is Vekoma, based on the one I posted video of earlier today. Lots longer and faster, and of course indoors.

For anyone who hasnt seen the movie Or cant remember much about the Planet of Pandora, this video does a nice job of recapping the main elements in the movie! could be so awesome if they do it right!

If any attraction other than Potter screams KUKA arm, it's Iron Man.
Just looking at the I-Ride system, there seems to be a capability for movement that is much greater than Soarin'. While it may not be the full range of motion of the KUKA arms, I do not see why the separated benches could not get close to mimicking the projection dome scenes of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Think something more like how Back to the Future: The Ride / The Simpsons Ride works than the little bit of up-and-down movement of Soarin'.

As much as I love dinosaur....If they want to plus it and bring back its original name! I am all for that! AND PLEASE get rid of Chester and Hester.

Another thought. Once Avatar is built what are the chances of dinorama and the Yeti being fixed?
Normally I'd say the chances are slim, but look what happened over at MK to prep for New Fantasyland. It was scrims and refurbs galore. Mind you one of those refurbs was due to a convenient backstage fire...

Too bad Universal owns the exclusive rights to the motionplatform based KUKA arm ride vehicle. I'm not sure if there is any wiggle room in the contract where stationary KUKA arms could be sold to Disney or if even Sum of All Thrills like stationary arms are still available.

The loss of Potter was one thing... the loss of the rights to the robocoaster KUKA really hurt the mouse.

Just think of all the underfunded attractions Disney could Blue Sky and never build with it?

I think one of the most amazing things to come out of TWWoHP is just how reliable the very complex KUKA arm system has been. I would've anticpated many teething pains for such a complex design; but, up time on it has been through the roof.

Universal only had an exclusive for that model of the Kuka arm tech for 5 years though. So that should expire in the range of 2014-2015.

Almost tailor made for the fantastical aspect of AK while preserving the message of conservation which is the backbone of AK's philosophy. Everyone who hates on and complains about Avatar must watch this clip 10 times.

And yes Sigourney Weaver would be awesome added to this.

If disney isn't willing to do the project right and spend the money necessary to be a great land with something so unique and breathtaking with the great attractions an landscapes then they should call it quits now because then it will just be a mess and honostly tacky and cheap

The landscaping will be tough but not impossible. Paths would have tropical plants and grass like rain-forests with occasional waterfalls, and rivers on the outside of pathways. Meanwhile show buildings can be hidden inside humongous mountains.

Voila, and i'm not even an imagineer

I might be missing something here, but we are going off leaked plans for one show building correct? Is it not a possibility that there is more to Avatarland than what we have seen? Once again just a question maybe I have missed something in all these pages on this thread.
Your exactly right! A lot of people aren't understating that....

i think the big seller will be bioluminescence in the plants and paths we walk on.

so they are covered for the night, at least.
Thanks for the post. I was thinking the same thing. This would be cool at night. During the day its just a bunch of colorful bushes and trees. Those pictures remind me of a game I used to play in world of warcraft called zangarmarsh. If you ever look it up it has the huge mushrooms and bioluminesence everywhere.

2 options they have 1) install this outside under large shade trees. Think a path through a thick forest. Even during the day they would still glow. 2) install it indoors as part of the queue and shops, indoor boat ride scenes and I guess restrooms (there has to be a bathroom joke in there after all the tangled threads). Someone also mentioned a rainforest cafe type restaurant which would probably use this.

Everyone seems to be asking for a third attraction in Avatarland but I'm of the opinion that this should be built with ONE main attraction... a mind-blowing one, if that is all the budget will allow. Once again Disney seems to be suffering from FLE-syndrome where money isn't being allocated smartly. Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Cars Land are a success because of two things, an unequivocally amazing E-ticket and an insanely immersive environment surrounding them. The two additional attractions at both lands are just icing on the cake. Forbidden Journey is the reason the Harry Potter addition to Universal was a resounding success resulting in a 65% attendance bump over two years. That ride brought in non-potter lovers who were interested in experiencing it. It is misguided for Disney to think a Soarin 2.0 (no matter how "plussed" it may be) is substantial enough. Drop the C-ticket and the Soarin wannabe and put the money toward the cycle coaster. Add a simple flat ride for capacity reasons if necessary but don't spread the money in such a way that we're left with just a "good" ride after what will clearly be 5 years of construction.

Your right they could do that. Or maybe they will make an immersive land that is all indoors to get the best effect. It can work, look at little mermaid in Tokyo Disney sea. Awesome land but all indoors.

So I hear Avland is only getting two rides?

As unexcited as I am about this land, at least it'll be a few new rides. I'm more looking forward to the boat ride than the E ticket myself.

Could be worse....we could have gotten a pretty land with nothing but a C ticket ride and dueling spinners!
