Bye bye Mickey soaps?

I took this over here to keep the other thread clean:

I've never seen a luxury hotel with shampoo dispensors on the shower wall. At the prices they charge they are competing with high end hotels and one of the things they use to differentiate themselves from a holiday inn is amenities like higher end toiletries. I guess if it's the same quality products just in a larger bottle it may not be as big a deal but I still think the perception is going to be negative.

Values I can maybe understand but even at the moderates it's starting to get more difficult to stomach. The prices would dictate a more upscale experience to me.
I think it's a bad move and being
g Disney vacationers yearly we like the personal unopened soaps , changing the look often, little surprise of the soaps and shampoos. We think this stinks , we pay a lot of money to be in Disney and they've done these little shampoos and soaps forever , they keep taking away the little things, like Disney dollars now the soap ,even towel animals Have gone,it will backfire on them when these things keep breaking and jamming and they will go back to the other soaps, some of these hotels or $700 a night and they can't give you little cute soaps? please spare me

I don't think they would do this at the Deluxe resorts. Just my opinion.

I just loved saving the Mickey head bottle. Sometimes when I'm feeling Disney depressed, I'd whip out one of those little babies and smother my head with shampoo. The scent would be reminscient of the last Disney resort I'd visited, and I'd be transported to a happier time and place. It's the little things I miss the most :(
This made me laugh because you didn't specify if you were in the shower at the time or not. lol

I must be the only person on the planet who brings my own toiletries.

Nope I do too! Especially at Disney. I said earlier, I think it's ridiculous when paying $600+ for a room to receive H2O products. I have a reusable travel toiletry set, always fill with my own products and bring them.

They are all over Europe, Central and South America. I've seen the shampoo and soap in dispensers and vases instead of throwaway plastic bottles.

I do, too. It doesn't matter if I'm staying at a hotel or at someone's home, I always bring my own soap and shampoo, along with toothpaste, deodorant, etc. It's very easy and inexpensive to buy the smaller travel bottles or the empty travel bottles and fill them with the product of your choice, and they do not take up much room in your luggage while travelling. It's a no-brainer for me.

Imagine you've spent a long day at the parks... You get back to your resort room around midnight. You're hot, sticky and sweaty. You want to take a shower before hitting the sack. You step into the shower, get wet and your wife and three daughters have used up the 3 oz of shampoo, conditioner and body wash they give you. You can't just make this stuff out of thin air. And you're dirty, dripping wet, tired...and mad. Switch this to you've come back to your room with plenty of time to clean up and change clothes before you head out to your evening ADR at Citricos....and you're left dirty and dripping wet with time ticking until your ADR. I wouldn't want to get THAT phone call.

This will happen. Imagine if you've shelled out $$$ to stay at the GF for that once in a lifetime trip. And you run out of toiletries And you have to call the front desk.... Dumb move, Disney....

Yes, except in the case of the small bottles, housekeeping can just hand you a bag of them through the door, not wasting much time, versus with those big bolted in bottles, housekeeping would have to come in the room with a tool, unbolt the thing, and replace the big bottles or refill them from some huge container in front of you. And they may actually require either higher hand strength from housekeeping along with an extra tool for them to carry, or may require weekly visits from maintenance to check on them, depending how they usually work that.

Ot, you know, they would be full from the onset and you would have never had an issue in the first place.

Not here to doubt that Disney has the smartest people working for them and all the data they could ever need to make any decision... but when does it reach a tipping point where the product (Disney trip) cost is maxed out while the return on trip is rock bottom? Are we there? People will pay crazy amounts for small little touches but eliminate them all and then what? Guess Disney thinks they are exempt from that and can get as cheap and cheesy as they want. And they just might be. I couldn't care less about the mini shampoo bottle matter but this little test run is indicative of so many extras they continue to do away with or try to do away with. If they were scraping by I could see it but my god the insane revenue they bring in doesn't warrant cheap moves like this one. That being said I've seen this in high end boutiques and it makes sense environmentally which is how they will spin this if moves forward.

We generally bring our own,However we do take the small bottles and they are used for a very good purpose our American Legion post is always looking for the small bottles of shampoo and such for our homeless veterans. Anytime we stay someplace the small bottles will get tucked away each day and will be put to good use.

My friend is staying st Coronado and saw this posted! Not sure if this will be resort wide.

I need my Mickey head soaps!!!

Sorry if this has been addressed already :(

This just means that people will need to bring their own bottles and empty those bad boys each morning. Wash, fill, repeat. :D

When these photos were originally posted, in an article on a Disney planning site, it was mentioned that these were in one of the handicapped accessible rooms in Riverside. So maybe that has something to do with it?
