:)

I just hate that I"m forced to participate in today's pop culture. I'd rather quietly sneak out the back door.

Everyone knows who Mickey Mouse is, not everyone knows who Doctor Strange or Benedict Cumberbatch is, and to me, it's annoying that you have to watch a movie before experiencing a land or attraction to really "get" it.

But that's the thing... you don't really need to watch the movie in order to 'get it' or really know who he is anymore than you know who the ghost host is. Those pre-shows exist moreso not to explain (which, sure, they do as a byproduct) but to provide some semblance of entertainment during long queues. Early attractions were just a series of switchbacks that lead to disgruntled, bored guests and lots of complaining. That is where the idea of the pre-show was born (that and the necessity of needing one for Haunted Mansion to get under the tracks). Pre-shows aren't really all that necessary in order to enjoy the story of an attraction, they are there to disguise waiting as part of the attraction itself.

The CineMagic name kinda grows on you after awhile.

That is why I was suggesting a name like Disney Cinematic Adventure. Still can keep the DCA abbreviation.

It just doesn’t sound like a park though. Everyone will leave out “Disney” and “Park.” So it will be, “what’s your favorite ride at cinemagic? “Sounds like a 4D movie theatre chain or something.

Hope it turns out well.

Iger did confirm that they were changing the name last year. But I don't believe it was confirmed it wasn't happening anymore.

The list I provided was asked on a questionnaire to WDW guests. And the one rumored to be the winner I believe was from an insider here.

They said a month ago that it wasn't happening.
That was three years ago that Iger said they were but they changed their minds thank goodness.

Well I still think the name of DHS needs to change, but that is just my opinion. But DCA does need to have a name change.

Iger said very recently during an earnings call or something along those lines that they weren't changing the name, for now. It would be a pain in the butt to create brand awareness of the park while telling people where star wars galaxy's edge is going.

Not sure if this name is on the list but Cinemagic Kingdom is my favorite. I think they had cinemagINE. Magic Kingdom and Cinemagic Kingdom would be cool, but they were concerned that foreigners wouldn't understand the Cine- component and show up at the wrong parks. I think it would be the best option for Disneyland Resort if they ditched DCA eventually. Disneyland Park (walt's original magic kingdom) across from Cinemagic Kingdom.

A Disney Park Blog post said that DHS was *not* changing its name despite what Iger said off-the-cuff two years ago. Either their survey showed no appetite for the name change, or they were concerned about the internet's freakout when it was 'leaked' by Jim Hill that it was going to be Cinemagine, or they realized that when you have a park themed to Hollywood featuring IP from various Disney movie studios that Disney Hollywood Studios was the most apt name.

WRT Doctor Strange: His movie Box Office was $677 million. He appeared in the latest Thor movie: $854 million. He'll be in the next (two?) Avengers movies, each going to be about $1.5 billion. And he'll most certainly have a Doctor Strange 2 movie. There was one Bug's Life movie at $363 million and one Ratatouille movie at $620 million. So, saying "he's not well known enough to be in the parks" is a bit inconsistent.

I like City of Heroes. I just “came up with it.” I like it much more than something like Super Hero City.

"City of Heroes" was a popular MMORPG. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Heroes

Well Damn. As they say, there is nothing new under the sun. Does this mean they can’t use it legally? Those are pretty generic words.

I'm friends on Facebook with the mom and dad of the little kid who asked Iger 3 years ago if they were changing the name of the park, and it threw Iger for a bit lol. They are the owners of Laughing Place site.

Doctor Strange has the sixth lowest box office gross of the 18 MCU flicks. The only post-Phase One flicks with lower grosses are Ant-Man and Thor: The Dark World.

Even the most popular of movies are not seen by millions and millions of people. And even among people who are fully aware of who the character is, how many of them truly care enough to travel to see it? I'd say you have a whole set of people who specifically won't travel cause they could care less about Marvel.
