Buying Photopass CD in advance- worth it?

OK, one more newbie question for now...

Is it worth it to buy the Photopass CD in advance (saving 20% and paying $99 now instead of $149 later)?

Does that include all the 'photoshopping' of the pics, prints, etc. or is just $99 to have the pictures themselves and I'll still be paying per photo I want to order?

Thanks!!

Sandy

I think its worth it. Last year, we started with maybe 250 pics- then I edited them, cropped, added borders, etc. We had 2 cds in the end (for the same price).

$99 gets you the cd with all of your pictures- including your edits. Along with a copyright release form to print them yourself.

We actually didn't order the CD until we got home. We still got the pre-purchase price; I just ordered through a $99 link before I registered the card #s.
Supposedly it is refundable anyway- you can pre-pay before your trip, and if you're not satisfied with your pictures you can ask for a refund. I just wasn't sure if we were going to use photopass, and was pleasantly surprised that I could "pre-order" when I got home.

Just my humble opinion but the Photo Pass CD is very overpriced no matter when you buy it.
You may be better off just using pictures that you took yourself and having them put onto a CD.

Tks.

i preordered the cd before my trip last month and i really thought it was worth it. i was only in wdw for 4 days and i managed to get 85 pictures taken. once i added borders, i got 103 pictures placed on a cd.

my tips to make sure you get your moneys worth would be to start taking photopass pictures at the first park you go to. we tried to stop at every photographer we saw. i really think its worth it to get good pictures of your whole group.

I did this last year and, IMO, it's worth it if you're willing to stop at every photopass photographer you see. There's no doubt you can fill up a disk or two in a week's vacation with all the editing you can do prior to getting the CD, but I think $99.00 is still expensive. You can just ask the photographer to take the photo with your camera  The only time that wouldn't work too well is for night shots, when you or the photographer would need to fiddle with your camera's settings to get it right. Their camera is all set up for the shot.

The best thing about it is you're buying the copyright so you can get them printed anywhere you'd like. Or, again, you could just have them use your camera and print them yourself.

We think it is worth it. Yes you can ask the photographers to take a picture w/ your camera but if you're doing a meet and greet they tend to take alot of candids before you pose w/ the character. They only take these candids with their camera. Many of these pictures were our favorites. Plus the night shots tend to come out better because they have everything set just right.

I've had trips where it's been worth it, and trips when it hasn't been. When I pre-purchase the disk, I have to know that it's going to be a "picture" trip. On those trips we stop at every photopass photographer, ask about special shots, go at different times of day, etc. In that case, we get a few hundred pics and it's worth it. Other trips, if we know it's going to be extra busy, we only get a handful of photopass pics. Those wouldn't be worth it to get the whole disk.

Just think about your trip. If you think you'll have time to get enough pictures, pre-order the disk. The price cut is nice.

just looked at this and looks escellet, does nayone have any comments on the higher package including the photo book?

Has anyone had one, and what do you all think?

We never did the larger package with the book but have considered it. Also the resort pictures a typically FABULOUS. Our last trip was Sep 09 and there where Photopass set ups in the Poly, AKL, Wilderness Lodge Etc . Those were some rather great pics! They also took pics when we came shooting out of the tubes on Crushn' Gusher. Any way, we find that we like so many of the pics we get that it works out cheaper if you figure it on a per picture basis. IE $15 for a 5x7 it only takes 7 pics to break even. I just wish they had move of the rides like TT so we could add them to the Photopass as well.

IMO the CD is only worth it if you don't carry a camera or are really bad at taking pictures. I take better pictures than the Disney photographers so it is a waste for me. Plus this past summer trip, every disney photographer that took my picture also took a couple with my camera too. All of my pictures on my camera were better. You can still "disneyfy" for your own pictures on the disney photopass site if you upload them. I bought a photobook too this year, but 100% of the pictures were from my camera not the disney camera.

Well, the link no longer works, so for me it is no longer worth it.
I waited until closer to my trip to pre-purchase, and just heard today that they discontinued the preorder link. I just tried myself, and the link takes you to an invalid page at the photopass site.

I have a feeling they will lose a lot of business this way- I know I will never pay $150 for the CD. It is just not a good value for me anymore

i wanted to order it and the photo book at the rduced price - does anyone know of any other codes that can be used to get a good pre order price on the items

Well I used it last year

I pre-ordered it prior to my trip last year. We spent a week at Thanksgiving. It was beneficial to me because it was just me and my daughter...so having someone else take photos of us together made it worth it. However, I was disappointed by the number of photopass photographers - they were few and far between. That was my only gripe. We only could manage 113 photos for the $99 - I HAVE heard (on the upside) they actually have added many more photographers since then so I'm thinking about doing it again this year at Thanksgiving. Like I said...for photos of the two of us together, it's worth it for me...It could be 10 or it could be 100. Those photos are priceless!:)

I pre-ordered the larger package on my last trip in july. I got the cd and the book. The CD is worth it if you stop for pictures. We made sure to stop at everyone we saw to get all the different angles and what not. After I edited each photo and added borders i ended up with over 1000 pictures. They sent me 3 cd's so i think i got my money out of it. then just go to a cheap photo place to print the ones you want.
The book was great. Turned out really nice. They have lots of different pages to choose from and you can add captions. Very nice keepsake to a memorablt trip. A lot better then trying to scrapebook it yourself. I recommend the cd if you plan to get lots of pictures. It doesnt take long when you stop to get a picture and some of the photographers are so great they have so many great poses for you to do.
