I think he was told they were done spending due about 10 years

And you know why I think that?

Are you speculating about Rhode? Largely the departure seemed to be related to the forced Lake Nona move. A lot of imagineers didn’t want to move to Florida.

Plus he was classic retirement age. I don’t think he was pushed or lacked anything to do, he was working on Lighthouse Point, which is exactly the type of cultural project he seemingly enjoyed.

I don’t think he will be back to project lead, but perhaps a consultant role. Likewise Tony Baxter is too old now. Consultant work would be less stakes and more enjoyable for them.

His comments were pretty telling…he all but said he was asked to leave.

And there is little doubt the piggy bank was closed.

Edit: typo was fixed, your comment makes more sense now!

It was also under the former boss. I don’t really know what you are implying, ya the piggy bank was closed, it’s now opened, ‘supposedly’.

I guess you are calling into question the more recent events? I don’t think Rhode’s departure factors anymore.

So, we see you’re still arguing with yourself. Have fun, you can’t force people to take up a position that you’ve made up for them.
Tower shouldn’t have been built half hearted…they did it in 2 places

But I can’t blame rhode for Iger and Rasulo telling him to shove marvel into one.

Was he supposed to quit in protest?

It’s ugly because it doesn’t fit…that’s not on him. I think the ride is about the best you can hope for

WDI right now has 34 positions being advertised on Disney Jobs. 1/3 are for interns. After the mass exodus of talent in the past decade, does anyone realistically believe that WDI is as good now as they historically were?
I mean, if you have 15 interns and 200 staff, the turnover on those interns are likely 3 times a year or every 4 months, whereas the turnover for the staff is likely an average of a number of years, plus interns would get converted into full time jobs internally, so hiring interns is always going to be disproportionately large to the ratio of intern positions to total work force…

I beg to differ, and the outcomes from Eisner & those from Iger/Chapek seem to agree with this
I'm calling it based off of the similar criticisms from Disney's fanbase as applied to the similar time within their respective times in leadership.

Both "saved" the company from a stagnant past, enjoyed several amazing years before leading it to new stagnation.

Don't the Disney interns stay at those Disney apt complexes and keep feeding the Mouse by paying rent?

Rephrased, do they have enough people to spend $60B over 10 years delivering not good, not great, but excellent projects?

It's not just about enough people, but the right people.

A lot of experienced creatives who would naturally be the "idea" people that Disney needs don't want to take the paycut and hyper-corporate environment that Disney offers. And those are are willing to suck it up for a while to get some "resume candy", wouldn't likely stick around long enough to see the project to completion.
