Trip Report Bring out the Tour Guide Flags.. I’M TAKING THE NEWBIES! A June TR

Jambo once again everybody! :)

I never thought I’d be writing 2 Trip Reports in 1 summer! Well, technically the first TR of the summer was back from January because I was having Disney withdrawal and didn’t think I would be lucky enough to go back this summer… But after an invite at Grandma’s house on Memorial Day and a few weeks later I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO DISNEY WORLD! :D This time with my relatives who had never been before, hence the name of the TR! The whole time we joked about getting a flag like the lovely *cough cough* tour groups so that in case they fell behind they could still see where I was going;)

Let’s start with the introductions!
I’m gonna do separate pictures cause I thought that’d be easier for now than a big group picture and trying to pick everyone out haha!
I’m not sure if you all know me by now or not so I’ll start off the Roll Call :p

Myself, Rachel (19), Disney enthusiast, volleyballer and Disney College Program hopeful! I also love to laugh and just have a great time with family :)

My cousin Kyle (18), obviously new to all things Disney (he didn’t want to hear or see anything about it because he wanted to be surprised) and loves, I mean LOVES all things Star Wars!

Kyle and Cinderella by LeCellierLover, on Flickr
This was taken on the trip during his quest to get a picture with all the Princesses :p

My other cousins McKayla (15) and Raven (14), they’re sisters and (obviously) Kyle’s sisters as well haha. McKayla is on the right-hand side of the picture with Raven being on the left. This was taken in their room at home hence all the decorations on the walls ;) Both new to all things Disney, but they looked a lot up on YouTube. McKayla loves all things Anime and her favorite character of all time is Peter Pan! Raven is my mini-me and is obsessed with the show Dance Moms, her favorite character is Tinkerbell!

And last, but certainly not least, the bread and butter of this trip, my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Dan (forever kids at heart that never wanna grow up :D ). They had been dreaming about this trip forever and wanted everything to be a surprise as well. My aunt is up for anything and my uncle is just like Kyle and LOVES all things Star Wars!

This picture was obviously taken during the trip as well. Their 1st time seeing Cindy’s Castle! :)

So how did I get to go on this trip with my relatives some may ask? Well we always go over to my grandma’s on Memorial Day and my aunt Kathy had asked my mom to help her plan some of the trip (like where to buy tickets, what parks should they do on which days, etc.). Well I kept popping in and out of the room they were in and was gushing with excitement for them. Well, I think my wonderful mom told my aunt how much I wish I was going on the trip with them to show them the ropes and experience everything with them. The next thing I know I was called outside by my mom and my aunt came up to me and softly asked “Do you want to come with us to Florida?!” I SCREAMED with excitement, I couldn’t believe it! I had to ask multiple times “Are you guys sure?!”. Then I was able to break the news to Raven and McKayla and they were STOKED! Kyle’s comeback was “REALLY?! We have to squeeze ANOTHER person in the car?!” and my Uncle Dan laughed and said “Hey the way I see it she’s another driver! :p” So that was that! I got home and plugged the date into the Disney Countdown app on my phone as we anxiously awaited June 22nd! :)

Love your trip report. What a fun family:)
Aw, thank you!
& thanks for reading along!

hahahaha don't worry Mike made fun of me while I was writing my report (I write it all before I post it lol) And he called it my Disney blog. LOL. Then I tell him its a Disney forum, which he knows he just loves to be a pain (wouldn't have it any other way though!) but he doesn't know about the picutres still LOL. and thats funny you didn't tell you aunt and uncle about it. I'm sure they wouldn't mind anyways!!!
I'm sure they will come back!

That's awesome you stayed all day there! I have a feeling when I take Mike there we will spend most of the day too. It's just a beautiful park. I miss seeing it when it gets dark out!
That's so cute that he teases you! :p Haha yeah I contemplated it, but I figured they'd just say "Ooo.. alright, I guess..? I don't even know what you're talking about!" Haha! As long as I don't show anything toooo embarrassing, but I know they can handle goofy pictures of them up! ;)
Aww YAY! I'm glad you like AK! So many people give it such a bad rep and I feel bad for it/weird that I enjoy it so much.. Haha! I just hope the Avatarland isn't too weird.. It has always been my dream to ride EE at night so riding it at dusk was good enough for me.. for now at least!
Thanks for reading! :D

First of all, great trip report. I am jealous of you. I am wanting to take newbies down to the world, but all of my friends are teachers. Makes it difficult to correlate trips.

Now, for the not so good section of the trip report. You and all this blackhawk gear and now I get to the end, and your showing pics of them winning it! Almost ruins a great trip report......almost. Just kidding. But seriously, my Blues will get revenge next season.....lol. Keep the report coming, it is very entertaining.
Thank you! :D Taking newbies is such an awesome experience so I hope one day you can take your friends! But I understand how hard it is to juggle each other's schedules around!
OMG you literally have no idea just HOW MUCH you scared me with the "almost ruins a great trip report.." I was honestly about to go back and delete all of it just so I didn't upset anyone!:oops: But I'm glad you're just kidding! I'm sorry I probably went a little overboard, but I was just so excited and I've never been away when one of my favorite sports teams has won like that! Hey I'm all for supporting other NHL teams (as long as it's not the Coyotes or the Canucks I'm good!). More coming soon, but in the meantime good luck to your Blues in the upcoming season! Thanks for reading!

I'm sorry for scaring you, totally not my intent. Just trying to give you a little ribbing. My boss is a huge Blackhawks fan, so he has decorated the entire office in championship gear. So we have been giving each other the business, so I'm just passing it right along.

Your family is lucky to have a great tour guide, I'm sure you made it so much easier on them. So keep on reporting, can't wait to read another installment. :D

Hahah it's all good, people have to have a sense of humor right?! Oo I'm sorry that your boss did that to you! :p If it makes you feel any better I was stuck out in Philly for most of the season (I go to school out there!)..
Aw thank you! Yeah my uncle would always say it was so nice that he never had to even look at a park map! Hopefully.. maybe.. if I'm lucky.. my younger cousins will let me do another installment tomorrow while I babysit them, but I doubt that'll happen.. :( But I will definitely have more up by tomorrow night!

Ok I need to stop promising that I’ll update at night because I guess my house’s Wifi isn’t that great the closer to midnight (or beyond) it gets.... Anywho!

Day 4- The Newbs learn there’s a whole other section to EPCOT and we decide we’re moving too fast!

So we were up bright & early the next day ready for EPCOT! I got to drive us in again (which I loved!) I should also mention that our parking was free, even though we were staying off property, because I’m an AP holder so YAY for saving money!

EPCOT opened at 9am so we were at the gates by 8:30am. Walked past this blocked off area which I’m guessing was/is under construction for some new RFID “turnstiles”?

They opened the “gates” a little before 9am.

She’s such a beauty! :)

Raven & I ran off on a mission to get Soarin’ FPs while I told the rest of the family to just take an enjoyable stroll thru the entrance and that we would meet up with them soon!

There was a bit of a rush to Soarin’, but we got to a FP machine right away!
We were able to get a return time of 9:45am.. SCORE!

I sent this picture to my mom because I knew she would be proud of our fast walking abilities to score such a great FP time! :D

Then I told Raven that since we had the FPs it was now the point where we would just take a leisurely stroll to find the rest of the fam! At first we couldn’t find them by the fountains (where I figured they’d be) so I called my uncle and then we saw them walking up the left hand side of Spaceship Earth. What could they have possibly been doing that whole time..?

Seeing Goofy, that’s what! :p

Kyle’s first character hug, looked like he was enjoying it.. AWWW! :p

All 3 of my cousins got autograph books, so while Raven was off getting FPs with me, my aunt got her book signed for her! :)

I always love how Disney brings out the kid in everyone and I think this picture is a great example! ;)

After we all met up we headed over to try out the new Test Track! The line was back very far which is the farthest out I’ve ever waited in line, but it was because the queue ropes weren’t extended yet (which is what I had kind of figured) so I wasn’t too worried about the wait time.

The sign had an hour wait (I think?), but it was more like 30 minutes, if that even!

I got a new Chevy Cruze a week before we left, so I was all goggly eyed over this symbol! :p

“How many, 6? Ok, please split up into groups of 3 and squeeze onto 2 tiny circles!”

Now I had been on the new TT in January, but my mom and I did the single rider line then. So the design studio area was all new for me!

We all loved designing our cars and took it pretty seriously, haha! I so wish you could literally ride the vehicle you design, but we all still thought it was pretty cool to be able to see who’s car was the “Best of the Day” at the end! I enjoyed it when my mom and I went on it in January, but I enjoyed it even more having actually gone through the whole designing process and post ride things! Our car was the fastest of the day (well fastest as of 9:30am.. haha).

Happy people! :)

They also showcased the turbo engine that I have in my car, I thought that was pretty neat to see just how big and intricate it is!

We loved playing in the Camero afterwards! That’s both mine and Kyle’s dream car! :D

I was hoping I could jump in the back, but then a CM came running over since he saw my confused look (wondering how to get in the back) and exclaimed that it was “front seats ONLY!” so that’s why Raven’s on my lap! :) Haha

Kyle and I then took pictures with the Camero that lets you email the pictures to yourself, but Kyle never sent me those pictures so I just have this one!

Once we were done at TT we headed back over to Soarin’ because our FPs were already ready to be used!

This is my mom’s favorite ride so of course Tink had to come out for this one! :)

I loved holding her during the ride (had to hide her under the seat at first just in case.. don’t worry she was tucked into my seatbelt and not going anywhere once we took off!) because I literally imagined my mom on the ride with me (dreaming about our possible May 2014 trip!)! She was very happy to hear that I did that when I texted her once we got off!

Next up was Living with the Land! The line was backed up into the seating area for Sunshine Seasons! The wait jumped to about 20 minutes, but I didn’t care since I LOVE this ride! I was a little afraid that the rest of the family was going to think it was just a snoozefest..

While waiting in line Raven and I were going to post this picture on Instagram as “Twinning Tuesday” since we had the same bracelets on! ;)

We had fun smiling at a cute baby in front of us in line and high-fiving each other as we turned the corners of the queue (which Kyle got embarrassed by very fast! :p)

It was kind of cool to see CMs cleaning the “big fishies” tank!

Luckily my family loved the ride.. SCORE! :D

Once we exited the ride I saw light coming from over by Soarin’. Then I remembered reading on here a few days before we left that they open the emergency exit since the stairs (or escalator, can’t remember which) by LwtL were being worked on. So of course we had to exit that way!

I was snapping so many pictures and I’m pretty sure I had stars in my eyes! My family was a little oblivious to everything since they thought this was normal. So I explained to them that this was backstage Disney that usually is not opened to the public! If you look to the right of Raven you can see a light blue building. That building is Soarin’! :D

In reality it was the best route to take because we wanted to visit Figment next, and this exit let us out right at the entrance to the Imagination Pavilion!

20 minutes for Figment AND a line that started outside.. WHAT THE?!

Time for Kyle to told Tink! My uncle was actually making some noise to Raven in front of us, it had no relevance to Tink even though it looks like he’s trying to whisper in her ear haha!

So after we said hi to Figment (I sang the whole time, which Kyle was kind of freaked out by :) ), we hung around and checked out the Imageworks stuff!

I showed them the wall of colored panels that make you memorize the order and then touch the corresponding ones. It irked me that people that were walking off the ride kept coming up to the wall and just touching a random panel while I was trying to show my family how to play!:banghead: I thought it was a little rude.. So I said aloud “WAIT! We need to WAIT to see what the pattern’s going to be!” and luckily my family was able to make a barrier around the thing and complete the light up pattern thru to the end with no interruption! YAY TEAMWORK! :)

My aunt found the area where you can take a picture in front of a green screen and get it pasted into a scene from a Disney movie! My aunt loved the idea of getting their picture pasted in front of the castle at night (or day.. I can’t remember.. haha!). My cousins thought it was kind of silly since we would be going to MK on Friday and actually getting our picture in front of the real thing, but my aunt wanted it so they took a picture!
Here they are setting up the photo!

Walking out with their picture in hand, we decided to go under the seas with Nemo and Friends! :) The line wrapped all the way outside along the entrance!

I got to ride with my aunt which was a nice change :) We giggled the whole way through and she thought we were actually spinning with Crush and Squirt!

Afterwards we spent some time looking through the big tank and watching the manatee eat!

After Nemo we decided to sit under some umbrellas outside the entrance to the Coral Reef Restaurant and eat some bananas and oranges! Once we were done I suggested we head into Innoventions for some AC! I had never been into the Think! (I "think" that's what it's called.. ;) ) part of Innoventions so we decided to pop a squat (and take a short nap) during the little film that they played (in a pitch black, nice, quiet room BTW :p )

I wish I could fall asleep as fast as McKayla!

While my uncle was reading all the things on the walls in the exhibit (couldn't really tell ya what it was all about.. Too much thinking, I'm in Disney! :p ) I found an outlet kind of by the entrance to plug in my phone. This became a big priority throughout our trip! Whenever we took a break for lunch or anything, my family knew to find a table by an outlet for my phone, they know me so well! ;) I think all of the texting back and forth to my mom that I was doing, Instagramming, checking wait times, and using my phone as my main camera was what hurt my battery so quick! A CM came up to me and informed me that there was an outlet along the back wall and that he wanted me to move back to it because I was in the way since the wall was close to the entrance of the exhibit. I apologized and moved to the back of the room.
Our view haha..

+1 points for singing on attractions. It's a personal requirement of mine to sing along whenever possible on Imagination and the Carousel. Which turns into alternating between the having each one stuck in my head and humming them everywhere I go for the following two weeks. If only Living with the Land still had it's catchy theme song...

One must always sing when they have the opportunity! I guess it helps that I have the "official" Walt Disney cd playing in my car! :p I also love singing along with the three caballeros! And it's not really a song, but the Dinosaur script is also so much fun to scream and yell along with while whipping past all the dinos! Hahha

So after our short break we decided it was time to go ride some more rides!
When we walked past SSE earlier the line was wrapping around outside, I said "We can do better than this later!". I'm so glad we wait because when we went back after Innoventions it was a walk on! :)
We had to take a quick bathroom break first. Can you tell how hot out it was by the look on Raven's face?!

I got to take a spin on SSE with Kyle as my riding buddy this time! :) Now to be honest this ride used to freak me out when I was younger because it seemed like whenever we went on it, it would stop! I would get scared that we would have no exit route out because we were up in this big globe!
Luckily we never got stopped for too long and everyone really enjoyed themselves! :D

I tried to get everyone to look for this picture, but as you can tell only Kyle heard me.. :p

There we are, flying back to Chicago! My aunt and uncle's pictures are on the left and Raven and zmcKayla's are on the right (even though Raven's picture got messed up and it looked like she had half her face covered with hair like Violet from The Incredible's! Haha)

After playing one of the games in the post-ride area (the one where you use "sweepers" to move money or energy or something like that. The sweepers kept glitching though, but it was still fun!) we went outside and had the idea to take jumping pictures in front of the fountain! I'll let you guys laugh at these next pictures because they didn't turn out too well, but they looked funny on my aunt's camera if you flipped through them fast because it looked like we were dancing! :p A nice Photopass photographer came up to us and asked if we wanted her to take our picture because she was "trained to take jumping pictures", but we kindly declined (since we had been jumping for awhile) and said that we would just try again in MK later in the week!

Tinkerbell is so cute, I love that you bring her everywhere. I have a Pascal that I've been doing the same thing with on my past few trips, it is so fun!! Can't wait to read about your family's first experience in MK!!
