Trip Report Bring out the Tour Guide Flags.. I’M TAKING THE NEWBIES! A June TR

Jambo once again everybody!

I never thought I’d be writing 2 Trip Reports in 1 summer! Well, technically the first TR of the summer was back from January because I was having Disney withdrawal and didn’t think I would be lucky enough to go back this summer… But after an invite at Grandma’s house on Memorial Day and a few weeks later I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO DISNEY WORLD! This time with my relatives who had never been before, hence the name of the TR! The whole time we joked about getting a flag like the lovely *cough cough* tour groups so that in case they fell behind they could still see where I was going

Let’s start with the introductions!
I’m gonna do separate pictures cause I thought that’d be easier for now than a big group picture and trying to pick everyone out haha!
I’m not sure if you all know me by now or not so I’ll start off the Roll Call …

Myself, Rachel (19), Disney enthusiast, volleyballer and Disney College Program hopeful! I also love to laugh and just have a great time with family

My cousin Kyle (18), obviously new to all things Disney (he didn’t want to hear or see anything about it because he wanted to be surprised) and loves, I mean LOVES all things Star Wars!

My other cousins McKayla (15) and Raven (14), they’re sisters and (obviously) Kyle’s sisters as well haha. McKayla is on the right-hand side of the picture with Raven being on the left. This was taken in their room at home hence all the decorations on the walls Both new to all things Disney, but they looked a lot up on YouTube. McKayla loves all things Anime and her favorite character of all time is Peter Pan! Raven is my mini-me and is obsessed with the show Dance Moms, her favorite character is Tinkerbell!

And last, but certainly not least, the bread and butter of this trip, my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Dan (forever kids at heart that never wanna grow up ). They had been dreaming about this trip forever and wanted everything to be a surprise as well. My aunt is up for anything and my uncle is just like Kyle and LOVES all things Star Wars!

So how did I get to go on this trip with my relatives some may ask? Well we always go over to my grandma’s on Memorial Day and my aunt Kathy had asked my mom to help her plan some of the trip (like where to buy tickets, what parks should they do on which days, etc.). Well I kept popping in and out of the room they were in and was gushing with excitement for them. Well, I think my wonderful mom told my aunt how much I wish I was going on the trip with them to show them the ropes and experience everything with them. The next thing I know I was called outside by my mom and my aunt came up to me and softly asked “Do you want to come with us to Florida?!” I SCREAMED with excitement, I couldn’t believe it! I had to ask multiple times “Are you guys sure?!”. Then I was able to break the news to Raven and McKayla and they were STOKED! Kyle’s comeback was “REALLY?! We have to squeeze ANOTHER person in the car?!” and my Uncle Dan laughed and said “Hey the way I see it she’s another driver! ” So that was that! I got home and plugged the date into the Disney Countdown app on my phone as we anxiously awaited June 22nd!

Of course I was getting my pre Rock N’ Roll rollercoaster jitters..


Our first ride pictures were pretty priceless





After that Tower of Terror still was not open so we headed over to Star Tours!


The Jeti Trainees were out! Soo cuute!






My uncle and Kyle literally cried when they saw this man come out..




Did I mention how cute these kids were fighting Darth Vader?!


I do not even remember the last time I was on Star Tours so this all felt like a first for me (especially with the refurb)!





Ready for our flight to Endor (if that’s where we were headed I’m not really sure..).

Oh my gosh! I started reading this because the title, I am the same way whenever I go to WDW haha, the tour guide in me comes out the minute we leave! I didn't realize while reading this though, that we would be so much alike haha. I LOVE hockey, my team isn't the best in the NHL, but I still love 'em (Go Panthers). Your trip seemed so fun. I can't wait to read more!

Hahah yes I LOVE being a tour guide! I just helped my roommate plan her upcoming May trip! Omg what a coincidence! I luh luh love hockey! It's alright I love all hockey!

Afterwards it was time to put our Photopass card to work!

I tried to fit on the back.. that thing would’ve gone nowhere if it actually flew.


After that it was time to use our Toy Story Mania Fastpasses!












I think I rode with Raven, but I can’t remember now.. Anyways I creamed whoever I rode with (of course!)

I thought this next picture was very cute.. not only does Disney bring out the kid in all of us, but I feel like it also makes the lovebirds feel extra lovey at times! I loved seeing my aunt and uncle so happy! One of my cousin did a very good job getting this artsy shot!


We headed back down towards Tower of Terror to see if it was up and running by now.

Saw some of Hollywood’s cool citizens along the way




So my aunt, uncle and Kyle went to go get in line for Tower of Terror while the girls and I went to pick up fastpasses for RnRc. Just as I put our tickets in to get FPs my uncle called and said “Hey did you get the FPs yet?! Darnit! Because ToT’s line just jumped up to 120 minutes.. ” Yeeah sorry I love you Tower, but we’re not waiting 2 hours for you..

So with RnRc Fastpasses in hand we headed over to The Great Movie Ride!

I loved how my aunt got pictures of things that I often overlook!








Tink was all ready to drive our tram through the movies!








We got the cowboy scene which is something that hadn’t happened to me in awhile, we usually get the gangstas haha!

Next we walked through the Streets of America!

The fire hydrate was spewing at full force and the little kids were loving it! Oo how I wished I could have just run through that thing full force as it was starting to get hot out!


On my way to take Disney’s 4th mode of transportation, the subway!




Then my uncle decided it was his turn to try and hop on the subway haha!


That’s awkward.. maybe it’s like Harry Potter and we’re supposed to run through the wall?!




We all CRACKED UP trying to say “Yous guys merchandise” in our best New York accents! I found it even funnier because since I’ve lived on the East Coast for college the past 2 years I’ve been exposed to “yous” and started out saying “yous guys”, but was informed that that was improper grammar.. yeeah as if “yous” wasn’t improper already




We then headed towards Backlot Tour and on our way saw all these little dance groups dressed up in different costumes, they were so cute! But they almost reminded me of tour groups since there were so many of them, so I put up my flag so my family wouldn’t lose sight of me and we made our way through the masses! Okay I didn’t really have a flag, but ya know I gotta stay true to my title




We could really use the mist coming out of this truck as it was getting SOO hot and humid out !


Felt like 90 degrees with 66% humidity..


I always laugh at people that bring their big honkin’ iPads to record things at Disney. When I got my iPad 2 Christmas’s ago the first thing out of my mouth was “I’m bringing this to Disney to record Wishes with it!”


I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be apart of this pre show!

After taking a tour of the backlot we headed towards the Muppets!


I seriously love my uncle, such a child at heart! HAHA!








Once my cousins saw them they knew they had to get in line to see Lightning McQueen and Tooomaater!

I had to fuel up with something or I was going to be down for the count haha! What better snack than a banana (and an over cheesing smile to go along with it. Hey I was in Disney and happy! )






Then we had to go visit the little rascals aka Phineas and Ferb!

Tink was sun bathing and get veery hot in line, luckily I had a small misting fan with me!


While Phineas and Ferb were taking a break Tink went to go explore a little bit to show mommy where she was!






After that it was on to the Muppets!

After the Muppets as we made our way towards Sunset Boulevard we ran into a magician and Raven was picked to participate. Because of her participation she was given a little dice keychain!

It was actually kind of creepy because in another “exercise” the magician asked a girl by me to think of a card in her head. So I thought to myself “What if I was picked? I think I would pick the 7 of Hearts” and low and behold the magician says “Did you pick the 7 of Hearts?!” I was a little freaked out.. Haha


Our second ride on RnRc was a success!




After RnRc we were starving so we headed back to Pizza Planet! Sadly (and very unusually of me) I don’t have any pictures of our food because we were all starving so we just ate right away the second we sat down! I let my phone charge as we filled our tummies because I had done so much Facebooking/Twittering/Instagramming/Texting..

Just as we got done and walked outside it started to DOWNPOUR! What happened to the gorgeous blue skies we had just had?! Oo yeeah that’s a Florida summer for you, such random weather!

So we ran through the puddles over to the Streets of America to try and camp under a fake awning.


We waited and watch other people sprint through the downpour. It was funny because we saw a huge puddle in the street right in front of us so we watched as people would run through it and get their whole shoe/sock wet. This one younger couple ran through it and we started cracking up as they showed their disgust and the guy turned to us and said “That’s not fair you knew that was there and didn’t warn us! YOU KNEW IT!!” We all had a very good laugh after that one!!

Since no one had ponchos but me I gave mine to my uncle because he wanted to go exploring haha!


We saw that the rain was starting to lighten up so we made a b-line (dodging the huge puddles) for Tower of Terror to see if we would have any luck getting on since there was not anymore thunder or lightening.

We got over to the entrance and low and behold we walked right into one of the pre show rooms and literally waited 10 minutes to ride, perfect timing!

I love this picture.. pure terror in everyone’s faces! McKayla does not really care for these types of rides so from the moment we sat down to the moment we actually dropped she was asking me when the drop came. Since I used to do that I assured her not to worry for a few minutes and I would tell her when to brace herself HA!


Now what happened next was true Disney magic..

So we unload from our elevator and the CM that greets you right after you get off came up to my aunt and said “Ma’am, would you like to extend your staaay?” I was freaking out because at first I didn’t know what was going on and my aunt looked at me with a confused look, but a HUGE smile on her face nonetheless and said “Yes of course!” My cousins and uncle were saying “What is going on?!” and I exclaimed “We got asked to ride again right away! ” So 2 CMs took us up the “chicken elevator” (that elevator was my best friend for 8 years..) and we got to go RIGHT in line for the next elevator! NO waiting throughout the whole boiler room! That’s right we came up the elevator and got to go right to a row! To say we were all ecstatic would be an understatement..
I wanted to cry I was soo happy that my family got to experience the magic that Disney is truly all about. I told them how that is why Disney holds a special place and standard in people’s hearts because they do things like that! :’)

Our second ride was filled with some tour group girls that screamed at literally EVERYTHING.. but it was still fun nonetheless!
Less scared reactions this time, just pure joy (well except for maybe Raven and Kayla)! I tried to point at the camera, but that did not work out as well as I thought it would.. haha!


After that we decided to see the last showing of Beauty and the Beast on stage!

This picture makes me swoon.. Like how did Disney did a guy that muscular to act?!


Afterwards I decided to use some credit saved up on my mom’s Disney Visa to buy us all Mickey bars


Snapchats with a Mickey premium ice cream bar are honestly the best!


We headed back towards Star Tours because we wanted to ride one more time.

I had been telling Raven all day that she should tryout for the American Idol Experience because she has a good voice, but according to her she didn’t want to because “it would have taken up too much valuable ride time out of our day”. Smart girl.. and I didn’t even tell her how long it would have taken!

I made her model by the backdrops though for a photoshoot Haha!






We stopped and got Fastpasses for Star Tours then headed back to watch Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I know we were back and forth throughout the whole park, but hey we walked our food off!

Had to take pictures in this car! My uncle said that this first one we were supposed to “act like those stick “people” you put inside of Monopoly cars!” I couldn’t keep a serious face obviously..


This one kinda worked except for Kayla smiling LOL that’s alright I’ll take smiling in pictures any day over serious faces!

I still remember the very first time I saw the puppeteers dressed in all black behind these characters acting it out and I couldn’t believe it!
Luckily the magic was not lost because I still love this show!

We all cashed in our FPs for Star Tours and had a great ride!
When we got out of the gift shop I could tell that my family wanted to do it just one more time, but I was willing to sit it out and hold everyone's bags. This was my view for a little bit as I sat and people watched


I'm pretty sure once everyone got off, my uncle, Raven and Kyle went on it for a 4th time! They absolutely loved this ride!

Time to take some goofy photos while we wait for Uncle Dan and Kyle to get out of the gift shop!






This next picture is blurry, but my uncle had the idea to put a penny on top of this little antenna thingie and said “Rachel when you come back next check up here and see if the penny is still there!” I’m gonna need to do that soon!


It was starting to get late (about 8 o’clock) so we decided to start wrapping things, but we weren’t going to leave without a visit from 2 best buddies.

I had to take a panorama to fit everyone in the TSM Fastpass Return line picture..




These next few pictures are great because my uncle, the second he saw Buzz, said “Alright let’s see that karate chop action!” and whoever was playing Buzz that night did an AWESOME job of goofing around with my uncle! As you can tell by the pictures, we were all cracking up!!






I find it hilarious now looking back at this picture and seeing just how hot and exhausted we look, but it was definitely worth waiting almost 40 minutes for the interaction we got with these guys haha!


The Monsters University rockin’ party was going on as we made our way down Hollywood Boulevard.

And with that we wrapped up our day at Hollywood Studios! We entered the park around 8:30am and left around 9pm! I honestly never knew I could stay in the parks all day long until this trip haha! We had a blast and as we got to our car in the parking lot we completed the day with a group huddle, hands in saying “Disney on the count of 3! 1.. 2.. 3.. DISNEY!” and some of us (aka Raven, McKayla, and I) jumped in the air haha!

*Funny little longish/short story about the rest of our night..

Ok SO, we obviously were in need of dinner on our way back to our timeshare so we stopped along International Drive at Burger King. Sounds like such a bad idea from the start doesn’t it?! So we pulled into the drive thru MISTAKE #1.. and waited behind the car that was ordering for about 20 minutes, but we honestly did not even think anything of it because we were just so happy over the great day that we had just had in the park! So we ordered then proceeded forward in the drive thru and waited another 15 minutes for the car in front of us to get their order. Once it was finally our time to get our food, since I was driving, my uncle had me pull forward a little bit so that he could just open the back sliding door (where he was sitting) and take care of our order.


So once we got to the window I knew it was weird because the person that was in front of us got out of their car and WALKED BACK TO THE WINDOW and asked for the fries that they were missing..

But OO it gets better!! So we waited 5 minutes.. got our drinks.. waited another 5 minutes.. got 1 bag (but obviously 6 people are going to need more than 1 bag of Burger King food). When all of a sudden we hear this honking coming from behind us.. I just thought someone accidentally hit their horn. Oo noo all of a sudden some crazy, psycho lady got OUT OF HER CAR AND WALKED UP TO MY UNCLE and said “Can you pull your f#$king car forward I NEED to get my food!” OMG. My uncle was very calm and said “Lady, excuse me can you please get back in your car and calm down, we are getting our food.” So this lady gets back in her car and starts laying on her car horn at least 7 times!! Then you start hearing her dropping f bombs up the kazoo and saying how she has starving children in her car (we could hear them hysterically crying/screaming at this point..) that NEED their food. REALLY?! You have hungry kids in your car that need to get their food.. Like it would even be ready since the service was soo slow that it was taking each car 30 minutes to get their food. She saw how long it was taking us to even order so she should have just gone inside or somewhere else! So she’s swearing and honking her horn, I’m shaking because I’m driving so I was about to just pull forward and let her win, but my uncle said not to that she would have to just wait. After 20 minutes we finally got all of our food and my uncle said sorry in advance for the drive thru girl to have to deal with this lady after us. Well as I pull forward to exit I see her pull right through past the window. I honestly thought she was going to follow us back to our timeshare and want a fighting brawl.. Luckily she zoomed right while we went left (while flipping us the bird nonetheless..)

It was a crazy CRAZY experience that we still talk about to this day every time we’re together! I could not wait to get back to our room, eat, and call my mom to tell her everything that had just happened.
Definitely something we will never forget!

With that being said we ate and went to bed.

Next up: Magic Kingdom, FINALLY!!
