Breaking News: Space Mountain Rehab

Lee, correct me if I am wrong, but haven't some spirits in these parts like namely yourself and that wackjob WDW1974 been saying that the rehab would likely last about a year OR LONGER for some time now?
Doncha just love it when someone from another fan site presents as 'news' something you've been saying for a while?
Good times. Honestly, I don't care where info comes from so long as it's good news.
And everything I've learned about the Space refurb in the last couple months has been good news. We really dodged a bullet 'cause for a while there it looked real bleak.

Remember when rehabs and plussing were SOP and not something that got fanboys all lathered up?

Dem were da days ...

I don't know. As a teen-aged fan boy and regular visitor of MK and EPCOT for much of the 80's (I was a local then) we would have been excited for a major overhaul on something as big as SM. Of course, it would be nice to be fired up for a big, shiny, new experience.

The IASW refurb was great, POTC was lousy, HM was fantastic (probably because that was Holmes' first role as a CM), CJB was impressive, and Space Mt. has escaped ridiculous cost-cutting and looks to be getting a decent refurb. Eh, 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

Great news!

Regardless of whether this should just be 'typical news', given what the recent trend with Walt Disney World management, we do treat this is as a small victory, and major news. With a few more of these small victories, maybe we won't, but for the time being, the recent SM news has been pretty big.

IASW was good I wouldnt say great though. Nothing new was added even though there were bold plans for a IASW as far back as 2001 for Disneyland also whats with all the holes they left open in the ceilings were they ever closed??

Space Mountain im still skeptical about. I'm happy that its going to be a new track because the current track is unacceptable but if they are going to market this it better be a substantially enhanced ride. I don't even care if the layout remains the same (even though there were bold plans for a new track layout and a 2-different rides in 1 building layout) but I would expect audio (exclusive florida soundtrack not a copy of an existing mountain), light leaks sealed, new loading station that is covered from the actual attraction, new 21st century special effects (like hong kong), and a new post show.

In addition, they need to begin construction on another E-ticket for Magic Kingdom so that in the future when an e-ticket needs to close for an extended refurb/refresh it won't be an issue. MK has really hurt capacity wise when the 20k closed without replacement, the assortment of smaller rides (keel boats, canoes, skyway, swan boats) were shut down without replacement and Alien Encounter and Timekeeper were not replaced with solid attractions (so now must people ignore those 2 buildings).

Eh....I'll take what I can get as far as audio goes. The DL/HK soundtrack is great and kinda fits already.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.
All that is happening.:D

Really?!? There is going to be a new post-show? Any more information? That seems to be the one thing that is hardly ever talked about.

I realize that this aspect of the refurb pails in comparison to other things like audio and new effects but, the post-show has so much potential.

I also happen to hate those tv's at the end with a passion.:fork:

I almost don't care that I have thermodynamics and industrial electronics homework due tomorrow morning...
Thermody....wha? Why on earth would anybody....oh, nevermind.:veryconfu

Also...any TTA enhancements?
Nah. Nothing on TTA. I've heard that it will be cleaned up a bit, and of course be a bit different when it enters the Mountain, but no real refurb as of now.

 It's all part of the plan to be one of the guys that designs these rehabs and rides.:animwink:

Eh, well at least we're getting a (hopefully) great, new Space Mountain.
