Breaking news from WESH this morning Construction accident near Disney

Yeah...We all know that anything newsworthy that happens between 28-29 degrees north latitude is "near Disney".;)

It was actually interesting to watch at least one of the local TV stations change the language of how they referred to this. Like most morning news, they only have about 15 minutes of news that they just keep repeating over and over between the weather and traffic reports before the 7AM timing for shows like GMA. The first time they reported it, they referred it as 'near Disney' but it felt like someone called them because after that they started referring to it as Bonnet Creek and omitting the references to Disney for the remaining times they reported the story.

I knew that. I even used it in a legal letter I sent to someone. He complained that the guy wire I used to anchor the end of a wire fence extended onto his property. I replaced that very lightweight, unobtrusive fence with a solid wood one which cut off part of his view of the river. But it had a nice solid wooden fence pole on the end to anchor it, instead of a guy wire. And it wasn't on his property.
Wouldn't that be known as a Spite Fence? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spite_fence

She had the wire fence up (presumably) for a reason. The neighbor complained, so she erected a different kind of fence that didn't require a guy line on the neighbor's property. Unless the new fence was unusually tall, there was a reason for it to go up. Revenge is just a byproduct The Mom has learned to live with.

Exactly. We had just finished a boundary dispute lawsuit. I had to put a fence up or I would have wasted a lot of time, emotional energy, and money if I let any question of where the line was located ever arise again. Hard to explain, but the line was no longer straight from the water to the road - there was a jag - which was where the guy wire came in - the only way to put that type of fence up was to use one.

Trust me, my "spite fence" was no where close to the 6 ft concrete block wall he erected in the middle of my driveway !!! That is what prompted the lawsuit.

There are a number of different nuances and exceptions, but the short version is if you are 10' off the ground, there needs to be a guard rail of some kind of a fall arrest system.

Do you by chance have a link to the pictures?

EDIT: I found them. Judging by what I am seeing, workers would most likely not be required to be harnessed. Of course I am sure there will be legal arguments claiming that they should be.

There was a similar, but much more catastrophic collapse of a concrete parking garage under construction back in 2007 in Jacksonville Florida.

I remember that one, and it does have some similarities, doesn't it. I can't imagine how frightening this would have been.
