Boy dies after riding Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

Just saw CNN's report. It was one sided and its only intent was to cause shock. They of course talked about the youngster who died after riding M:S, but surprise! surprise! didn't bother to mention that the child had a pre- existing condition:brick: I feel for the families, but hope Disney doesn't get yet another undeserved black eye.

YO THATS SO FREAKIN TRUE!

Get this story....
A year ago I went to Disney, I was waiting in line at Buzz, I looked over where the "bugies" come in and 1 buggie had a foriegn guy in it! When it was time to get off the ride they guy actually stayed on!!!! was he thinking!

P.S. CNN is just as negative as the others. Also saying that the family had bad judgement, means they are idots.

Come on, folks, let's not be too hasty to judge here. This only happened a few hours ago and the details are quite sketchy. So lets just wait a bit before all the bashing gets out of hand.
I think it's safe to assume it was a pre-existing condition or just his time. In the article it said that Disney engineers said the ride was operating normally, and since it hasn't killed anyone in 7 years of operation I doubt it could be anything but a pre-existing condition or just his time.

For all of 2.8 seconds, and I doubt astronauts only pull 3, Jet pilot centrifuges go up to 8 or so...
*edit
Apparently they do pull only 3 g's. however it is for a much, much longer period of time. by comparison, jet pilots pull up to 9 g's ( from popsci.com) in a dogfight

Exactly correct...

"Finally, in the last tens of seconds of the main engine burn, the mass of the vehicle is low enough that the engines must be throttled back to limit vehicle acceleration to 3 g, largely for astronaut health and comfort."

And you are right about the jet pilots. THey pull massive g's when pulling up.

This is not good for WDW! And I feel bad for the family, going to WDW for a fun trip and one of their children die :( thats really sad!
It sure is better than not being on a fun trip and dying. It sure does suck to die there, but there is no place that I'd rather be.

A bunch of people in my office have forwarded the breaking news emails from CNN adding their own digs at me that Disney is dangerous. I feel bad for this kids family and hope the reason for death can be discovered quickly, so the debates here can be more informed.

I can't wait until the people who "felt like they were going to die" on RnRc come out of the woodwork...

Actually my 55 year old father, who is not in good shape at all, was more alive than ever after his first ride on Rock n Roller Coaster. He went to get back on it 4 more times. RnRc is really gentle, in comparison my dad will not get on space mountain b/c it jars him so much he will not get on it unless it gets a rehab.

Sort of funny that a few forum members can come up with more facts than a newspaper in all of 30 minutes

i have been on many fast roller coasters & RRC is nothing. here in PA hershey park has a coater that is way faster than RRC & no one has died in that ride. Disney just seems to be in this huge rol of bad luck. but i am sure there are going to be those people saying how dangerous the rides are. with all this said it is very sad to see such a young person pass away

My sympathies to the family. I will withhold any other comment until some real facts are released...much the same way the media should learn to do before deciding to spin it into another "dangerous Disney ride" story.

OI! I`m a foriegner too. Whats the problem?

It`s ironic the Sentinal had so much to do with the conception and announcement of Walt Disney World in the first place. How things change...

we have cnn on here (at work) and some of us were discussing the recent unpleasantness. first off none of us are really sure how this happened, the ride isn't that intense, but all of us are a lot older than 7-12. second, the people here seem to be of the opinion that maybe the parents shouldn't have let the boy ride. they were saying that parents need to take more responsibility and precautions with their young children (the m:s tragedy also can into the conversation here).
i personally think there is no one person at fault for things like this and that sometimes it is an accident.
just letting everyone know what the talk around the tv is

oh no,
this must mean that disney is to blame because there is no way the people that got on that ride were idiots that dont read,of course not, disney is to blame!. (BTW i was being sarcastic then just to clarify)

you watch the media will put sooooo much pressure on disney that they will end up making a tamed down version of RnRC,i can see it know there would be 2 tracks one is the origional the other is a TTA style track designed to look like really long taxi cabs and there will be no corners in it because people would complain that they got injuries from going round a corner too fast (about 3 mph),it will just be a straight track from 1 station 2 another with aerosmith playing really quietly.(sorrry if this has offended anyone,i am just sick of people trying to bring disney down).

on a serious note my heart goes out to the family for their loss.i cant imagine how hard it must be for them. really i am sorry.
