If you don't start out thinking of her as the villain, the situation might look different: The only exec with the guts to stand up to Chapek to protect the soul of the company is now considered for the CEO role.

Not saying this is any more accurate, but you don't know her, do you?
No fan of Chapek but the appearance is very Machiavellian. Hope she's the right person for the job.

I'm not sure she'll actually get the job. We knew she (along with D'Amaro–sorry @Sirwalterraleigh) were being considered. But they were also considered to be not-quite-ready (hence ol' Iger coming back).

I've noticed a common storyline in lots of "news" articles about this: that Iger was never really a huge fan of Chapek or sure about his readiness to lead the company. This seems strange to me, since I was under the impression that Iger picked and promoted Chapek. Maybe it's just spin-writing a new narrative. But interesting nonetheless.

I agree I've read the same about Iger -- he picked Chapek. I realize Iger wasn't on anyone's favorite list either. But I suppose he is the "lesser of two evils" at the moment.

Nah its more like, if you like UK culture, Liz Truss stabbing BoJo in the back and then being forced to quit after 45 days in the job. Its less than saving the 'soul' and more hoping the BoD thought they would appoint her as CEO.

What makes you think this?

Nonsense of the highest order.

Lightyear and now Strange World have been horrific disasters. Disney and it's investors would have been looking at 400 + million domestic box office, the type of figures posted by the original Toy Story's, or a big Disney animation movie.

Strange World has just hit 25 million at 2 weeks. Lightyear only did 118 million at the domestic box office. Ghastly figures
Yeah, that's the point. Animation is doing fine, just not what Disney is putting out. They need to course correct.

You think she cares about the soul of the company? 🤣
Me? No, I’m not sure what she cares about. The “soul of the company” is Iger’s line.

But if “anyone at the Executive level is automatically evil,” I’m not sure how anyone could support Disney.
