Amazon - Draw people in with free 2-Day shipping, keep them around with free 2-Day shipping, doesn't matter what anyone watches.
not true for me atleast but i do keep amazon prime due to prime gaming, this year alone i recieved over 400+ euro worth of games (including some very good ones like star wars fallen order, total war warhammer 2 just to name a few).

I don't think that's true of Disney+ (or Peacock, ironically).

Netflix - Draw people in with Stranger Things and whatever binge drama or true crime documentary goes viral, but nothing to keep them around.

HBO - Draw people in with Game of Thrones, but nothing to keep them around.

Amazon - Draw people in with free 2-Day shipping, keep them around with free 2-Day shipping, doesn't matter what anyone watches.

Hulu - Attempt to be consistently good with FX content (The Bear, Reservation Dogs, Under the Banner of Heaven, Dopesick), but no major draw outside of The Handmaid's Tale, which has a super niche audience

Paramount+ - Pray that Taylor Sheridan can keep cranking out bangers

Peacock - Nothing to draw people in, but if they get some hits people will stick around to watch The Office and Parks & Rec for the thousandth time

Disney+ - Come for Mando, stay for the Library

Disney+ and Peacock don't need to spend on "sustainment" content, because they already have it. They need to spend on must-see blockbuster content that continues to bring people into the service. Once they're in, they're in. Churn should be much lower than most of these other services.
Netflix - So many shows. My List has 20 shows, some I'm waiting to return, others I have yet to start or continue a new season. New shows come out all the time. Half of our new favorites are in other languages w/ subtitles. No idea how anyone can cancel.

HBO - Fine, GoT, Flight Attendant, Gilded Age, that's about it.

Amazon - It's free w/ Prime. Agreed. But we do love some of their shows. The Grand Tour, Jack Ryan, MIHC, Maisel, Britannia, Expanse (RIP).

Hulu - I don't watch anything really on Hulu, but we use Hulu w/ Live TV as our cable for normal tv.

Peacock - Useless, don't use it.

Disney+ - I get the vault, but that's for people with kids. Zoomers and younger Millenials are likely to join and quit. DWTS was a great addition.

It’s lazy and it floods a system that can’t hold it.

Genie is their attempt to meet “halfway” between the previous 2
What is lazy about it? I mean, yes you are stationary, but it takes strategy and understanding to do it properly. Plus, it saves time. I used to fly over to a FP kiosk while my older parents would slowly catch up, or meet them back at whatever line we were going to stand in while we waited for a future FP. That's not as fun as selecting in line after you tap your band.

I won't debate point by point, but I think you're missing out by not using Hulu. They have some excellent shows, and everyone I've talked to who has tried both prefers them to Netflix for the use case you're describing here. Netflix has way more volume, but the quality of the FX-on-Hulu series is so consistently excellent that everything on Netflix is junk by comparison.

(Except for Handmaid's Tale, which... blegh.)

The only FX show we watch is Wrexham. My wife watches Handmaid's Tale. Outside of that FX is very scary/creepy lol. We prefer period shows, historical (Vikings, etc), action, comedy, etc. FX is weird most of the time.

Apple TV+ has great shows as well.
