The parks are also the “crown jewel” of the portfolio…biggest chunk of the money. He doesn’t… it’s just the major focus on what’s the more relevant topic here so it seems that way. The entire package is taken into account by those responding to the company health and strength. If you had more info directed on all the Dis divisions you’d see the CEO receiving bad press from various directions. The parks stand out more among the general public.
I need some time to parse the financial statements, but I saw somewhere it was reported that Genie+ alone is already more profitable than Cruise Line.
Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and put this on todays agenda so we can get this out of the way:Chapek thought he could do the same thing to Christine McCarthy he did to Catherine Powell. Little did he know she had more approval in the board than he did.
I do not think that would be the exact sentiment if this all goes the way one would cynically expect, but it’s pretty close.Chapek was awful.
In a year or so, I think a lot of us are going to wish Chapek was back.
“This is not going to go the way you think.”
I have been wondering what the board thinks re: rehiring iger, their obvious panic, and m&a. At their current size, there are probably 3 companies on earth that could buy Disney, and none of them are going to be interested in doing that over the next two years. But a lot can change in 2 years for the better or worse.“Second chance” implies that someone thinks they made mistakes with their first chance. Iger doesn’t. The parks are what he wants them to be. I suspect his main focus will be on digesting Fox, which means more belt-tightening.
Of course, this could be even more ominous if he starts selling components of the company or even the company itself. I don’t think he will, but Iger’s focus has always been mergers and acquisitions and the board is panicky…
It’s literally charging for what you already paid for…Isn't Genie- mostly pure profit? I know I'd be curious to see the numbers. One I'd be willing to spend money on, one I give myself a .000000000000000000001% chance of ever spending money on it.
Depends on what column you put all the IT/Networking costs.Isn't Genie- mostly pure profit? I know I'd be curious to see the numbers. One I'd be willing to spend money on, one I give myself a .000000000000000000001% chance of ever spending money on it.
What’s the third?. At their current size, there are probably 3 companies on earth that could buy Disney, and none of them are going to be interested in doing that over the next two years. But a lot can change in 2 years for the better or worse.
Even still…once the sunk cost is paid (it likely is)…it’s minor equipment and troubleshoot people (who almost flunked out of caltech and couldn’t get a good job)Depends on what column you put all the IT/Networking costs.
Doubt that will happen. Chapek was the whipping boy right from the start. He did cause himself bad press and furor from all because of his blunders and policies but it wasn’t all his fault. He was bound to fail as soon as he stepped in and set the profit building ton of his time in.Chapek was awful.

It moved around a bit but Anthropologie was the big one really intended for them for the longest time.Apple was very close to being in Disney Springs in the location that is now Ron Jon.
In retrospect it’s not a hard sell to say that what happened may have been the plan all along.Doubt that will happen. Chapek was the whipping boy right from the start. Iger will not make changes guests are looking for but he will do some minor things to placate the loud voices. He’s not going to be treated the same as Chapek. He has a better standing by most and viewed as a likable guy. How you are perceived does so much for you.
They have one of those, no?It moved around a bit but Anthropologie was the big one really intended for them for the longest time.

I got it…you’re a computer guy…obviously you’re all worth your weight in platinum.I mean no it isn't. but ok.

We good?
Exactly what was my first thought when it was announced that Iger was being reinstalled. Thing went very well for him as things were getting hot. Very convenient that Chapek was nearby and available to take the steering wheel. Now Iger gets to look like the savior with little finger pointing at his part in all of this.In retrospect it’s not a hard sell to say that what happened may have been the plan all along.
It smells like tuna in a lot of ways
Well said, I've been saying that tesla should be more involved, but Mr musk may be a big issue for Disney and hard to work with, but i think magical express will return in some form, and Tron will be given an end of this year deadline to finish, also MP will go ahead in Epcot, and Play pavilion will be back on track, speculate to accumulate . wait and see
