$175M budget. Do you think it created or retained enough D+ subscriptions to make it worth that?95% positive on Rotten Tomatoes- 276 verified critic reviews.

I would say most of them don't get it. Even Iger to some extent. There is a reason many of them think the parks are for carnies. I know I bring up other parks a lot but I will say at least their CEO's, and that includes Universal understand their parks for the most part.$lappie had zero theme park experience. Just because he ran P&R doesn't mean he knew anything about them (which he didn't).

Would've been a real hit if Chapek and Daniel had let it go to theaters. Absolutely would've been a hit.$175M budget. Do you think it created or retained enough D+ subscriptions to make it worth that?
Chapek hired Kareem and last promotion of KD, Chapek moved Kareem to top job.Odd person to be loyal to.
Unless you can self-identify.
Is she the one who called it the " Pixar movie"?276 people who like a dumpster full of that was set ablaze.
Kiri Hart was associated with the movie, and once I saw her name in the end credits, I knew immediately why I didn't care for the movie one iota when I was watching it.
'Turning Red' was a dumpster full of set ablaze. Awful, awful movie.
Obviously the film did something to offend you two, but clearly resonated with audiences in some form given the more aggressive merchandising you're seeing 8 months after its release in the parks. If it wasn't moving the needle, that wouldn't be happening.Apparently it really resonates if you're a Chinese-Canadian woman between the ages of 33 and 35.* They really went after the widest possible demographic.
(I'm obviously being sarcastic, but that was basically the entire source of good press for the movie. The way it captured the experience of Chinese-Canadian tweens in Toronto in the early-00s.)
The worst trend of the current trolling internet era is acting like critical opinion means nothing, or even worse, is somehow indicative of some content actually being bad.Oh damn the critics love it, based.
That ain't gonna happen anytime soon, he's already busy at Skydance Animation alongside John Ratzenberger.ADVISABLES
-Rehire John Lasseter and reestablish him as a good man and a creative wonder
Putting the theatrical franchise on ice for six years is ridiculous.Screaming this claim ad nauseam 10,000 times at the top of your lungs doesn't make it true.
Odd person to be loyal to.
Unless you can self-identify.
Reframing movies as streaming series is actually wise, allows time to tell the story, and keeps the iron really darn hot, actually.Putting the theatrical franchise on ice for six years is ridiculous.
We're not trying to win a golden statue, mate, we're trying to sell subscriptions and action figures. The worst trend of the current trolling internet era is acting like critical opinion means nothing, or even worse, is somehow indicative of some content actually being bad.
Chapek wanted a bean counter and he chose Kareem Daniel. To be faire to Kareem, Bob C was the only reason he ever got the position he was in.
Nobody else in their right mind would have made that move.
He may be a smart and competent man (I'm sure he is) but for Disney, it was like putting a plumber in charge of the electrical wiring you're having done for your new house.
Would've been a real hit if Chapek and Daniel had let it go to theaters. Absolutely would've been a hit.
Yes, one projection has it, at the high end, topping out at just over $100M domestic. It's going to underperform Lightyear.
TURNING RED!?Would've been a real hit if Chapek and Daniel had let it go to theaters. Absolutely would've been a hit.
Actually, it would've been a real barnburner. You can't have it both ways, say "Pixar has lost the way and has no heart," and then dismiss something that is full to brimming with heart, like this, and act dismissive about it. It would've been a hit. Soul would've been a hit. Luca would've been a hit. And that momentum would've made Lightyear big.If "a real hit" equates to about $38 million in total domestic box office, then yes, it would have been a hit.
May I acquaint you with the term "excess inventory"?Obviously the film did something to offend you two, but clearly resonated with audiences in some form given the more aggressive merchandising you're seeing 8 months after its release in the parks. If it wasn't moving the needle, that wouldn't be happening.
Agreed. The reason for the quantity is to fill D+ with content. IMO they need to start putting more of the Fox content on to Disney+ as well more older shows and movies from before 2000I agree. Strange World will flop hard as the marketing has been abysmal, and it looks average at best.
The next Frozen II or Ralph Breaks the Internet. It's probably not great like Zootopia or Wreck it Ralph. Original films typically need to be to draw an audience.
Disney needs quality, not quantity.
Well, no one accused her of being the brightest bulb on the string. Except maybe Kathleen Kennedy. Is she the one who called it the " Pixar movie"?
Yes, that's a quote.
