He's already started by sending his message out to the cast members before the press.
A PR stooge sent an email to the whole company at 10pm on a Sunday.

Most cast members found out when they were woken up by a text message at 6am this morning saying "what the frick is going on!!?"

If absolutely nothing else happens, I'm still happy to have a CEO up there who treats people as humans, and not just as wallets to dip into.

I'm sure we will see more humanity from the top toward the cast members and guests. He's already started by sending his message out to the cast members before the press.
Ah yes, the CEO that made his bed with the Chinese government is a great friend to humanity

Perception is a game that can be very rewarding to all.

Iger had Zenia to help him. Chapek didn't. It will be interesting to see who Iger gets to do PR (or if he keeps the current exec).

I had sensed she was playing chess, not checkers.

It's weird. Harder and harder to ignore the conspiracy theories honestly.

It really does seem that Iger was running to get a statue of himself in the parks, and the sentiment today makes it seem like a possibility.

When Iger assume the position (lol), I understand that at Disney Parks all across the World, the steamships on the Rivers of America blew White Smoke.

Lightyear was awful. Worst Pixar movie by a landslide.

Worst? Umm...

... Unless you also liked Good Dinosaur. Then there's something wrong with you. 🙃

Lightyear is far from worst.

No…just angry shareholders and one ceo with an angle

But this “activist investor”…
…you don’t think this was out of nowhere, do you?

That’s not the game

We may usually be on the opposing sides of Idealism/Optimism vs. Cynicism/Pessimism on this site, but dangit if you can't tell a story. Gettin' Brian Windhorst talking about Utah vibes.

Agreed - Disney would make great AppleTV content... A sad state of affrairs but... (and, I believe, Iger explored that at one point with Steve Jobs!)

I've found in popular consciousness that AppleTV got out of the gate slow and the one beloved property is Ted Lasso. That's not counting the brand being hated by a segment and associated with taking sports rights and hiding with them. Wouldn't it be wiser in a merger to just pull Apple's library and put it on Hulu?

It was the intention of Marvel TV to connect Netflix Marvel to the MCU. The tv division of Marvel certainly tried to make it happen and would continually update their world to match the MCU.

But since movies and tv were separated departments, neither could definitively say they definitely were or were not part of the MCU. Attempts to do crossovers generally failed (with the exception of appearances of Fury and Sif) with the excuse that movies and tv were on different production schedules.

With the cancellation of Netlix Marvel shows and the consolidation of all things Marvel under Feige (except for Sony Marvel Spider-Man and friends), then it was up to Feige to say if Netflix Marvel was in the MCU or not. And he remained silent on that for a long time.

Until.. the multiverse was introduce into the MCU. And then, Feige can have it both ways: The Netflix Marvel is a separate universe from the main MCU making it canon multiversally, but not canon to the main MCU.

It's been now establish that the Daredevil and Kingpin of the MCU (in Hawkeye, No Way Home, and She-Hulk) are not of the same universe as their Netflix Marvel counterparts.

I just want a modern day Coulson back on the big screen.

I think he needs to. Now obviously, IDK what the budget for disney is rn, but the best thing he should do is remove all the unneccessary new D23 announcements that fans did not like:

No moana and zootopia in AK, no san fransokyo, no beyond thunder mountain (well except maybe Villain's land, I'm actually fine with that believe it or not, though I totally understand those who dislike it).

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Did anyone actively hate those concepts? I saw all hate being directed at them never happening, not at the idea of them happening. Moana in AK is weird if they don't focus on ocean life, but I would love that MK expansion coming in and adding without removing something.

Also I keep reading things like "he's bringing back Illuminatioins! he's bringing back the Citizens of Hollywood" - no, I don't think so.

My hope only extends to possible resort perks coming back. But I'm not naïve enough to think that's where the focus will be. :)

Sorry to see you're out of a job. ;)

Citizens of Hollywood is gone? :(

Honestly, I just want a new version of SpectroMagic or SOMETHING.

Ha! Tigers won, Saints won, and Disney fans won, all on the same weekend!

Woulda thought given the avatar that you were a Cowboys fan.

Correct that’s why I put both in. Here I clarified it so no one could misunderstand.

Since Pixar is referred to as "Disney-Pixar" half the time since the merger, I can see people misunderstanding "Disney/Pixar" as that rather than referring to both

I'm not a Marvel fan at all, but if I was, there is no way I'd be able to keep up with all that content. Job, family, hobbies, pets, work-outs, travel, etc.

Heck, I am a Star Wars fan, and I haven't even had the chance to watch Mandalorian season 2 yet. I liked the one episode I saw of Andor, and if things line up exactly, I might be able to watch episode 2 sometime next year.

Eh. They release things weekly. A weekly television show and occasional film doesn't sound crazy. But that's if you've been along for the ride the whole time and don't need to catch up.

Either way, that's been the comic book model for decades.

I wonder if it will be the the same way he notifies Cast members when they're getting laid off?

As the father of a 4 and 1 year old, can they please just bring back Mickey Mouse Clubhouse? Mickey Mouse Funhouse was a complete dud, but the formula for Clubhouse has this almost magic appeal to them... My wife in particular needs something new to playing in the background to help her sanity.

Some new episodes of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse would be nice too.

Yes, I need things to distract my kids...
Sentiments like this makes me wish Mickey Mouse Works/House of Mouse of the late 90s/early 2000s still existed. It appealed to all ages and was ‘the’ perfect modern take on Mickey. It ‘deeply’ upsets me that Iger pretends this era never existed.. didn’t even get one mention in the recent Mickey Story documentary. My guess is petty inner corporate ego politics since it was supervised by Roy Disney Jr. & greenlit under Eisner. Notice once preschool Clubhouse made its debut thanks to Iger. They pretended ‘everything’ made prior never existed and failed to make most of it available? Heck, notice how when pushing the “Iger saved Mickey from soulless corporate mascot narrative”. They don’t even mention how Clubhouse contributed to that very issue… don’t think that’s a coincidence. Truly befuddles & irritates me. It sorely needs more recognition & better marketing. People deserve to see the truth that they ‘did’ get a modern take on Mickey right without compromising anything everyone loved about the eras prior.
