Did you apply for the job yet? You've obviously got it all figured out. We need you to set them straight!
Most of the problems are on the record of Bob Iger

We all wanted Slaphead gone…everyone

But there’s a hard reality after the dust settles

Even his broker buddies aren’t buying iger’s routine. And they never looked for reasons not to before

I think. I guess. I hope?

Disney stock certainly didn't get a bounce from the Burbank coup and return of Bob Iger. And it's still headed downward a month later...

From $158 a year ago, down to $97 when the Burbank coup happened on Nov. 20th, and then sliding another 10 bucks to $87 at today's bell.

When does Disney's recovery start? After all those critical people in Burbank cubicles return from their two week Christmas break?

The scary part?

Wall Street is still desperately trying to convince itself that a numerically unavoidable recession isn’t gonna do what recessions always due: layoffs, vast reduction of consumer spending and stock loss

But look at that kick at the end. People were using that type of bump to claim the pandemic was worsening/ bettering etc.
It must mean the tide has turned and brighter suns are ahead.....

I wouldn't know - I was talking about the adaptations of Rodger & Hammerstein's musical, produced for tv in 1950, 1965, and 1997.
The 50s broadcast definitely left a lot to be desired, but I do have a real soft spot for the Lesley Ann Warren version. The Broadway revival also made some interesting changes that it would be cool to see incorporated into a newer version.

From an email Bob Iger sent to D23 members -

“As we approach the end of 2022, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to the biggest Disney fans in the world – all of you.

Disney is fortunate to have the most devoted and enthusiastic fans, and I was reminded of this a few weeks ago when I visited Disneyland Resort and attended the Candlelight Processional. It was invigorating to be surrounded by so many guests who make what we do possible. We love your passion for our company and your enthusiasm for what we create, and we will continue to do our best to exceed your highest expectations.

As you know, next year Disney will mark its 100th anniversary. We are immeasurably grateful to the generations of fans all around the globe who have invited our stories and characters into their lives, and we look forward to celebrating the groundbreaking moments, the cherished memories, and the creative visionaries that made Disney the most beloved name in entertainment over the past century.

During the coming year, D23 will launch a slate of exciting events to mark this historic milestone. More information can be found here.

Looking at all the opportunities ahead, I can honestly say there has never been a better time to be a Disney fan. It is an extraordinary privilege to lead this remarkable company again, and I am so grateful for your continued passion for Disney. On behalf of all of us at The Walt Disney Company, I wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very happy and prosperous New Year.”

Events?

It’s called “capital investment”, you moron.

And clearing out the mess you have in your studios and getting some creatives that can tell the difference between a good story and their $&@!

…following yet, skippy?

I have no real knowledge of or opinion on the '50 version, but the '65 version holds a special place in my heart. It was "in color!", after all, and probably produced at the very fine facilities at CBS Television City.

That said, I also enjoyed the heck out of the 1997 version! So fresh, so sparklingly new! It came from a place of genuine warmth and splendor, you could just tell. And that lovely young lady Brandy was perfect for the role of Cinderella.

The current crop of dour and humorless kids shackled by Faculty Lounge Dictates and Mandatory Preferred Pronouns could learn a few things from the organically and genuinely diverse people who remade classics decades ago to great success.

Apparently the big IS replacement Iger had on his watch replacing Americans with cheap IS personnel from India has resulted in shoddy IS, I recieved the D23 letter and I have never joined D23.

Disney isn't the only one . My company outsourced IT to India for cost reduction purposes etc , some were laid off, sign of the times .

Does your company live off peddling nostalgia and reputation to moms and dads at the highest price possible?

…I get what you’re saying…but they’re all not the same.

Couple years ago Iger defenders did this fake “market analysis” on threads with the baffling “the parks are actually UNDERpriced” nonsense…community college Econ…

“But the parks are packed!!” Yeah but the reputation and client pool is shrinking…which is the long game I’ve been warning about since the housing crash. Penny wise and pound stupid

Now I don’t hear it. Their emperor has no clothes.

Bet it comes back for D+ though:..and soon when it starts to grind down.

Good luck to him with that one.

Cameron is not Lucas.

He'll burn things to the ground.
He’ll just not do anything. He’s made 10 movies in 40 years.

Cameron is an eccentric like George…but George really got hoodwinked.

George wanted his retirement payout AND Disneys piggybank so he could play in the studio. He really walked into a minefield there…

…but their REPUTATION said they wouldn’t make bad stuff. They just are suits who don’t understand their product now and actually detest their core audiences…and talk about it outloud at Silicon Valley symposiums.
