@Lee do you feel like Disney shoots themselves in the foot when they announce things early knowing full well that their time horizon is 5+ years? When they announced Avatar, I believe 2017 was always the plan, but there was such a gap from announcement to opening that people assume it's due to incompetence rather than a deliberately drawn-out pace.

Mostly because the Star Wars stuff is much farther along in development than Avatar was at the time of announcement.

Also, there was/is an unusually tight veil of secrecy around the whole Avatar project. I don't see that repeating with something like SW. Too many rabid fans.

I completely agree with everything above. I also think the 'Avatar secret' is easier kept because of location as well. It's easily hidden and covered up in the park. I don't think any work on Star Wars will be contained as successfully.

I think they need to give us details, if only to keep expectations in check. Either way, I suppose some already hate it, others already love it...most of us are in a holding pattern.

With Avatar, I don't believe that it was deliberately drawn out but just announced at the very beginning of the creative process. 7 years from start to finish is pretty standard. We just usually don't hear about it for the first 5 years. Avatar was different.

I believe the goal is to announce attractions about a year from opening.

That said, I believe that we will get more info about the DHS redo than usual simply to explain to guests why half the park is closed.

So, back on topic, the only rumor I have heard is the Monster's Inc Coaster is not quite as dead as we were at one time lead to believe.
I know he doesn't hold much credit on this site, but this jives with what Jim Hill thought, too.

Everyone thought this was dead when the TSMM third track work began, but I never really saw why they would be mutually exclusive especially when the current Pixar Place already has theming from Monstropolis. There's a lot of soon-to-be blank canvas where the queue could go.

I love Star Wars, but is there any chance the expansion calls for Star Wars attractions as part of a LucasFilm section? That way Indy can stay (and dare I dream) one day finally allow for an Indy ride at DHS. Similar to Pixar Place....

Dinosaur = Indy ride just different theming.
