Bob Barker -- best wishes in retirement

Alas, no Marc Summers... :(

The choice of Drew Carey certainly is an interesting one, but what concerns me is his potential longevity with the show. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see if he can establish himself as the "face" of the show...and maintain it...

Kind of odd considering Sounds Dangerous, as well... ABC, now CBS... Hmm...

I was home sick on Thursday and did what every person that stays home sick does...I turned on the P.I.R. Drew Carey is horrible. I tried to look at it from a point of view that wasn't comparing him to Bob Barker but he lacked everything that Bob had. He had no personality, no charisma, he was very monotone, and it just didn't have the "oomph" that it once had.

Ya know when Bob would build up the prizes before they were revealed? He had a great tone in his voice and it made it dramatic. Now Drew is just like, "And, here's a new car."

If you've watched Whose Line is it Anyway...I compare it to his introduction. When he's in the stands introducing the guys...and then he runs down the steps and says, "Ok, let's play our game."

I like Drew Carey...but this clearly wasn't the right choice. It's a shame...

I agree. We were watching it yesterday while we were waiting for mom to get out of surgery. I keep hoping he just needs to get adjusted, but that might be wishful thinking.

I watched his first week and then I saw some this past week... he hasn't gotten better unfortunately. I keep hoping it's just an adjustment period, but it's taking a while if that's the case. The guy that's the announcer now had a horrible first month or so where he just didn't seem to have any personality and now he's far better, so maybe in another month or so? But I'm starting to think probably not.

I caught an episode recently and thought the same thing. He's just very... bland, I guess would be the right word.

In the what it's worth department, I think they were repeats this week, so perhaps they are fine tuning him....?

I kinda like Drew's approach. There's room for improvement and he's nowhere as polished as Bob was, but in its own way, I think that's kind of endearing. You can tell he's genuinely excited to be doing it and it just makes me want to root for him.

I saw no enthusiasm whatsoever...it was almost like he was reading everything from a teleprompter. I don't want him to be Bob Barker...but it would be nice to see someone that brought something new to the table. Drew Carey is not only bringing nothing to the table...it's almost as if he didn't know there was a table to begin with!

So it's not so much we disagree as we just see things completely opposite.

Maybe Drew had taken some energy pills before taping the episodes I saw.
