Here's a rumor originally from Mice Age regarding a possible Rhine river boat ride at Germany. To me, the pavillon could use something as its one of the least compelling at Epcot

and it already has some building space set aside for a ride...bout time they considered something major for World Showcase, but why do the rides all have to be in three consecutive countries...gonna get pretty lonely over on the western side of World Showcase...

The Rhine River Ride was originally planned to be added during EPCOT's construction. Maybe Kevin knows something about the plan finally getting a start.

unless the rumor is true that they are going to build a sewer system maze attraction in France vis-a-vis Rataoullie

I personally think Italy is the pavilion with the least to offer. Germany atleast has the entertainment at the restuarant.

would the French like being personified by a rat? That seems to be a step below Mexico being portrayed by a buncha birds...I call fowl play!!!

~snorts~ okay shot a little water through my nose there...where can I sign up for a magic carpet ride? And, more importantly, will there be Fastpass?

I think anywhere else but Disney being personified as a rat would be a bad thing. :lookaroun

It would make France the Big Cheese of attractions, no?

Back to the original topic...

what would said boat ride contain? the history of the country is more or less war after war (not just the two big ones last century)... America's cultural conception of Germany is mostly Bavaria... and since theres already a biergarten, that takes away from some potential material. What else could it offer?

The Mexico CM's seemed very excited by the ride... El Rio was so dated it was insulting.
So let's update it with a 1944 movie :lookaroun

/devil's advocate
/(in reality, looking forward to the new attraction)
/thread drift
/ooh! Rhine River ride!

Truthfully our of all the worlds being showcased at world showcase, Africa has the least to offer. I guess you cant complain, because at DAK they KS and its one of the best themed lands in the park, and also Epcot's Africa has no room.

But I would hope that they did come through with a ride, an E ticket for World Showcase.

Yeah, expansion in WS would be awesome. I'm settling for gran Fiesta for now, but really would like to have seen WS expand.

merf, what would you rather see happen (given a set budget)... a new attraction at a pre-existing country or a brand new country all together?

Best Case Scenario: New country w/ attraction, preferably a ride.

Second Best: New attraction in existing country, preferably a ride.

Not too exciting: New Country w/ no attraction.

there's more history to Germany than just wars...though there has been a lot of fighting in its history...there are lots of castles in Germany that a ride like El Rio Del Tiempo could showcase, and the country has a lot of culture that could be explored. It's not all Hitler and Auschwitz...

I can't wait for the Autobon show scene where the boats leave the river as they transition onto a rollercoaster track, and blast from 0 to 80 in 3 seconds to the driving beat of the Red Hot Chili Peppers..

I heard they signed that german band Rammstein to play "du hast" on the rollercoaster launch.

EDIT: (Wonder if anyone is going to get the 10 year old pop culture reference?)
