Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge?

Now I've decided to go to WDW next year instead of to DL (APs for WDW through next December). I've stayed at WL and it was amazing! I'm sure my fiance would love it - he's from Alaska and loves all that outdoorsy stuff. I'm a DVC member and Boardwalk is about 30 points less than Wilderness lodge. I love Epcot and I think it would be a lot of fun to stay right outside. It's just my fiance and I - no kids to consider.

I need convincing to go with one or the other. Obviously I have awhile, but I can't figure out anything else to plan for my December trip, so I'm starting a little early. So... convince me! Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge?

Knowing how much my husband loves the WL and your fiance is from Alaska, my vote is definitely for the WL. I myself would love to stay at one of the EPCOT resorts but probably never will because my husband loves the WL more than WDW itself. You can always try Boardwalk another time, if your fiance will go for it after staying at the WL (ha ha.)

What parks are you planning to spend the most time at? I loved the convenience of riding the boat to MK from WL, but if you're planning on spending more time at Epcot then stay at BW.

I have not stayed at BW, but we loved WL.

BWV is my home resort so I'm biased. I enjoy VWL but the BWV is "better" (;)) because:
1) Walking distance to both Epcot and DHS.
2) The Boardwalk at night is awesome
3) Better views than VWL, which is basically views of trees
4) Classy 1940s theming
5) Better water slide (OK, I know some people are freaked out by the clown:))
6) A DVC member has the option to book inexpensive "Standard View" rooms, hopping "Boardwalk View" rooms, or peaceful "Water View" rooms

I've stayed at WL - and loved it - and at YC - so I get the feel of walking to Epcot and taking the boat to DHS. Although I can not say for sure what staying at the BW is like but based on location, my vote would be for BW.

I'd go with BW simply because you've never stayed there before. I know some people are big on having their favorites but I think there's an extra bit of excitement staying somewhere you've never been.

Not sure if this plays into your decision, but would a DVC member get full housekeeping services at WL?

I would vote for BW mostly for location. I love being able to walk to both EPCOT and HS.

Have you thought of this.... you could do a split stay. Stay for 1/2 the time at BW and 1/2 the time at VWL. That way you don't have to choose and you get to experience 2 resorts.

Why? I've never stayed there, so I honestly don't know what makes it great! What are the advantages other than being steps away from France?

Well, if it's just adults here are my reasons:

1. Jelly Rolls after parties on your way home from France
2. Boardwalk Bakery on the way TOO France. Nom Nom Cupcakes!!
3. ESPN ZONE...you know, since your hubs is a dude. ;)
4. Flying Fish Cafe for a lovely date night!
5. As said, easy access to Epcot for EMH of adult beverage goodness
6. Romantic midnight strolls on that lovely, lovely Boardwalk
7. Laughing at children who are terrified of the GIANT Clown in the Pool (just kidding, maybe?)
8. Take the boat right over to DHS!
9. Take the boat or walk over to the Dolphin's Mandara Spa for some adult spa time!
10. Its less points for MORE restaurants, MORE bars, MORE cupcakes and MORE FUN! ;)

That's my two cents, and if that amazing list didn't sell it...I dont know what will! Enjoy yourself either way!

WL and Boardwalk are my two favorite resorts. You can't go wrong with either. In my opinion it all depends on which parks you will spend more time in. With just two adults I'd do Boardwalk. If you were bringing kids with I'd say WL.

I have not stayed at BW, but we loved WL.

We probably will spend more time at Epcot and we'll have ADRs there on most nights also. But my fiance would rather stay at WL for the theming... I spoke with him last night.

I could probably do this! We're doing it in December, staying half of our trip at BLT and the other half at AKV.

We've split several vacations and always enjoyed exploring a "new" resort in the middle of a trip. It's been several years since we last did this but I recall Disney helping with the luggage transfer and having to check in at both resorts. I think the entire process took about an hour, maybe slightly longer. Perhaps someone who has done this more recently can let you know what the experience was like.

If you split the resorts, consider staying at WL first. You know your fiance better than anyone but by staying there first, he might enjoy the BW more. If you stay at BW first, there's always the possibility that he'll keep saying "Yeah it's OK but I can't wait to get to WL!"

I vote Boardwalk, but my opinion is tainted. I think WL is beautifully done, but it reminds me too much of the scenery in my home state, so it doesn't feel as "vacation-y" to me. :) That and I like the location of BW.

After 4 years in AK I agree with you. My fiance was born and raised in backwoods Alaska, but we moved to NC a year ago and I know he'd love the WL environment. But I'd love the boardwalk location. I'm an epcot girl :)

Heading for the great escape.
Stayed at both, the current Mrs Sak favours the WL and loves the themeing, I am not keen on the rather sterile atmosphere of the Boardwalk, but love the location for ease of access to both studios and more importantly WS.
