Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge?

Now I've decided to go to WDW next year instead of to DL (APs for WDW through next December). I've stayed at WL and it was amazing! I'm sure my fiance would love it - he's from Alaska and loves all that outdoorsy stuff. I'm a DVC member and Boardwalk is about 30 points less than Wilderness lodge. I love Epcot and I think it would be a lot of fun to stay right outside. It's just my fiance and I - no kids to consider.

I need convincing to go with one or the other. Obviously I have awhile, but I can't figure out anything else to plan for my December trip, so I'm starting a little early. So... convince me! Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge?

I would stay at Boardwalk only because you already stayed at WL and its fun to do something different for your honeymoon. And of course all the other good reasons people have said above. But, since your fiance really wants WL, I do think the best idea is to stay at WL first so he can experience that and make him happy :) , and do the second half at BW so you can experience something different thats close to Epcot and this way you can get the best of both worlds.

Well, if it's just adults here are my reasons:

1. Jelly Rolls after parties on your way home from France
2. Boardwalk Bakery on the way TOO France. Nom Nom Cupcakes!!
3. ESPN ZONE...you know, since your hubs is a dude. ;)
4. Flying Fish Cafe for a lovely date night!
5. As said, easy access to Epcot for EMH of adult beverage goodness
6. Romantic midnight strolls on that lovely, lovely Boardwalk
7. Laughing at children who are terrified of the GIANT Clown in the Pool (just kidding, maybe?)
8. Take the boat right over to DHS!
9. Take the boat or walk over to the Dolphin's Mandara Spa for some adult spa time!
10. Its less points for MORE restaurants, MORE bars, MORE cupcakes and MORE FUN! ;)

That's my two cents, and if that amazing list didn't sell it...I dont know what will! Enjoy yourself either way!

that clown is freaky...

Why? I've never stayed there, so I honestly don't know what makes it great! What are the advantages other than being steps away from France?
The view for one thing is stunning (water view room) at sunset and sunrise. 3 resorts sitting across from each other so the food options are endless. Adult entertainment right on the boardwalk..jellyrolls is a blast. Epcot and DHS is close...the ambiance of the boardwalk is great. I'd try all the deluxe resorts once..they all are wonderful and its the only way to be objective

That's tough b/c obviously a December trip at WL would put you in close proximity to the fabulous tree and decorations. Plus, I'm a big fan of the boat to MK, Roaring Fork is one of my fave CS spots, and we really enjoyed hanging out at Trout Pass. While I am not big on the views you get at WL, it does feel very secluded which can be nice if you're looking for that and the room refurbs are addressing one of my biggest complaints about staying at WL...although not sure how to impacts the villas.

On the flip side, it would be nice to be over near Epcot, I think you'll get a better view at BW, and at least from the standard hotel room perspective- you'd get a bigger room (not sure how these specs work out for the villas if DVC). They do have nice bright colorful decorations for the holidays and I think they get a gingerbread gazebo, so while it's not massive tree- it's pretty. The only knock against BW IMO is the pool. Luna Park scares the living daylights out of me. ...but 1. not sure if you'd be planning on swimming 2. if you're staying at BWV not sure if you'd use a different pool. I also like your dining options here better if you were to eat in your hotel. Plus, it's something new and I really am big on that.

For these reasons- I'd go for Boardwalk. :D

Both terrific hotels. However, Wilderness Lodge is my favorite WDW hotel. The lobby is breathtaking. You can walk or bike ride over to the Campgrounds. (We saw a family of deer on our walk over in May) Take a launch to the Magic Kingdom. Great pool ! Great restaurants. Geyser. Disney's Electrical Water Pageant passes by nightly We had a woods view - loved it ! Did I mention it is the least expensive of the deluxe resorts ? Real cozy place.
