More info:

I recently heard that Block Party Bash will be going to 5 days a week. I think this is supposed to start in January. I'm not sure what days it will or wont run, that is all I was told.

Well if that is what they are going to do they could have at least split the days a little more even between the 2 shows, cutting Fantasmic to only 2 shows a week come on! :brick:

If they cut Block Party to 5 days, I hope they at least double the performances per day. I think DCA did the same thing. The floats have special night lights, which are already installed anyway.

who is your source for this? Because as far as I know (knowing almost half the cast of BPB) this is not the case, and I surely hope it isn't. All of this cutting is really scaring me. From Fantasmic to BPB, this American Idol show better be GOOD.

Yeah, same here and I'm good friends with one of the managers with Metropolis, who handles all of the acrobatics. I haven't heard a word about this. Doesn't mean that it's not being considered though.

All I have to say is that, it's time we (guests and cast members) either stop by guest relations or write Disney to give them a piece of our mind on these cutbacks and any other park related concerns. Most of these decisions are made by bigwigs who are very rarely in the parks and who have little guest contact. The only way these things will change is for guests to send the information up the ladder of communication. I can tell you from personal experience that most cast members have absolutely no say on how things are run or even managed at the theme parks. It's all decided by the corporate division who have poor communication with the park itself. Hopefully, someday, I can be part of changing these type of situations. Hey, I can dream can't I?:p

You have to remember that Walt was the same way. He was doing cartoons and movies and would check up on them all the time, give them input on how to "plus" them, etc. Then he decided to open Disneyland and the cartoons and movies were on Walts backburner. He was focused on the parks, taking all his best animators and directors to focus on that new project. Had Walt been around for EPCOT, he would have left the theme parks for his new interest. Im sure he would have been living in EPCOT and focusing on it 100%. Im not disagreeing that the people who make decisions on the parks are folks who aren't in them often, that is surely accurate. Im just trying to see the other side of the coin. Walt slept in the parks and mingled with the guests because it was his creation and dream, Jay Rasulo is just a working man trying to make a better than average living income for his family. Im sure he spends his days off and vacations as far away from Disney as possible. I wish the person running it cared as much as Walt did, but I don't ever think we'll see Jay Rasulo or Bob Iger just mingling in the parks trying to find out what guests think and want.

Maybe they'll move Block Party Bash to 7:00 PM instead of 3:00. That way, there's a closing show every night of the week, it's just different epending on which night you are in the park. That idea could work in the off-season. That lets HSM3 (such as it is) act as the "daytime parade." If the floats have lights on them like someone said earlier, this might work. that's not to say that I really like the idea, but at least the park will have something big at closing time other than American Idol's potentially-overblown hoopla.

Hmmm, I bet it will play on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I really do think these are strategic moves being made by management. They seem to be devoting quite a bit of resources to DHS in what may be an attempt to boost attendance and make it a "full day park" even though I don't like that phrase. I feel DHS and DAK are full day parks if you take your time, soak up some theming, take in a meal. I know most don't feel that way, but now with increased budgeting and new attractions, DHS seems to be getting lots of TLC, which is great.

I honestly wouldn't care if they scrapped BPB all together, but I know the youngin's like it.

does anyone agree with me that Block Party Bash is the worst thing Disney has ever come up with?

Absolutely not. It is one of my favorite parades disney has done. I see it EVERY day at work, and see it EVERY day that i'm playing at the studios and its still as though its the first time.

How odd if true to cut it to 5 days a week mainly for something so new to DHS. You would kinda think DHS would keep everything playing as much as possiable with TSMM and American Idol. odd.

If they cut Block Party to 5 days, I hope they at least double the performances per day. I think DCA did the same thing.

When DCA cut some of its performaces it went from 3 show stops to 2. Then cut the amount of days so it was dark 2 days and Aladdin picked up the 2 dark days and vise versa. Also later when the 50th ended the parade was cut from 120? performers to 80? and took out 2 cones, a trampoline, and the last 3rd of the Bugs unit (the last part is the one with Dim the blue beetle) Its still a great parade by all means, I enjoyed it very much, but now that Pixar Play Parade is out BPB is #3 in my book.

The floats have special night lights, which are already installed anyway.
Yea they do, but what helped it even more are the parade lights along the route at DCA though butt ugly during the day it makes for one amazing parade at night. But the onboard lights are very impressive.

All I heard was that it would start going 5 days in January. Things can change at Disney so maybe they aren't going to do that now.

No I would say the hat and the HSM show would top my list and somehow they have now arranged to combine the two and multiply the absolute campiness of it all. I avoid that area whenever possible. :hurl:
