Man, I've got the Florida Resident Seasonal Passholder Blackout Blues. I know we're getting close (blackout ends August 15th) and I know I'd never realistically go in July anyway between the heat and the crowds and I further know that if/when I do go in August, I'll be hot and cranky and waiting for the temperatures to fall but....I'm still missing Disney!

Any other seasonal AP holders out there singing the blackout blues with me? ;)

We're moving soon, and will be Florida residents too! We're considering the seasonal pass w/blackouts cause it is so cheap! I agree with you, I wouldn't probably go during the blackout dates, not necessarily because of the weather, but because of the crowds, there are always so many people! Here's a question for you...does your pass include the water parks? Is there one that does that is still lower in price such as the seasonal pass (maybe like a seasonal plus pass)?

Nevermind, I just answered my own question!! It's not bad, you can get water park tickets as FL residents for $40(A) and $34(C). Not bad at all!

I remember when I lived in St. Pete I had the FL. resident AP with the blackout dates. Honestly, during the long summer blackout I would sometimes just take a ride over there at night and hang out at the Poly and have a meal at Ohana's. I would also ride around on the monorail and catch Wishes from the GF. It was not the same as being in the parks but it was nice just to be on property. :)

You could always get an ordinary AP
If I could afford the extra $260 for both of us to have full AP's I would.

It's more just one of those...Disney cravings. No, I really wouldn't want to go in the summer anyway, but, you know...it's Disney. You still get the jones for it!

*laughs* Yeah, we've been thinking about heading out to Downtown Disney just to get a little fix but it's hard to justify driving out there just to window shop when what you really want anyway is the parks! ;)

I've often wondered why WDW charges less for a Florida annual pass than they do for other states. It seems contrary to logic.
A Florida resident lives closer to WDW and thus will use the parks more than someone who lives elsewhere.

Maybe the Blackout periods make up for it?

:)

Because honestly? A lot of Florida residents don't go to the theme parks. At all. Many Florida residents don't do the "tourist" things in the state. Disney's smart to give discounts to FL residents because most FL residents want to go one or two times a year (at most) but would never pay $75 just to walk in the door. It'd never be worth it. And for those of us who want to go a ton of times, Disney MORE than makes up for our discounted AP price in how much food, drinks, and merch we buy. Believe me, Disney makes their money back.

I have the FL resident-only "Seasonal" AP. It has blackout dates but it a lot cheaper. There's also a full AP (365 days, no blackouts) but it's $130 more than the seasonal. (But still cheaper than a non-FL resident AP.)

I have been feeling the same thing! We are AP holders as well and are going up on the 15th for a long weekend. Normally, not going in the summer months is ok with me, but this year I am "jonesing" for my Disney fix. I was there on the last day before blackout and will be there the first day back - I have never managed that before. I normally can't stand to go in the summer, but what I wouldn't give for a nice leisurely stroll around the World Showcase right now!!!

Man you couldn't pay me enough to go there in July or August :hurl:

You're not missing much. I have only been stopping by 1.5-2 hours prior to closing time. The crowds are way too big

I know! I know! I was at AK in July once a few years back to catch Lucky and it was SO MISERABLE. Logically I know it's terrible now but... the Disney itch has struck!

Exactly. It's miserable. I realize that. And yet....a little TTA time, some Dole Whip...it doesn't sound terrible from here. :D

I can't wait to get ours! I think its the best deal ever! I'm most interested in making the special events like the Flower and Garden Festival and Star Wars weekends. We also want to go during holiday time but only very early in December. I checked and those weekends are not blacked out, so I'm happy!

The FL Seasonal AP is great because typically, we Floridians try to avoid the most congested times at WDW. The only blackout period that ever really effects me is Summer, because it is 2 months long, but the blackout dates at Easter and Christmas don't effect us because we never go up during that time. We will make a trip up in early Dec., and still get all of the holiday benefits.

Florida residents will usually just make a day trip and head home. Out of state people are probably going to stay for a few days. So locals might make more trips to the parks, but as far as the number of days stayed, it's probably closer to even.

My whole family had APs when I was little, that only lasted a few years. We learned quickly that no (or at least very few) sane people would want to go during Summer break or the Spring and Winter holidays.

We swapped over to the SP about 10 years ago and haven't looked back. With the saved money we get to go at least twice more during the year without spending any extra money.

I think the reason and logic behind it is more than likely a Resident of Florida would utilize the annual pass more so than a person, lets say from Iowa, No disrespect to Iowans meant or implied, That is why they offer the park hopper options and Magic your way tickets so you can customize the amount of days you are going to get
