BLACK PANTHER huge hit!

The Marvel area feels dated now though and at some point that will start to work against Universal. Nobody is really thinking of Fantastic Four nowadays when they’re thinking of Marvel. I’ve always felt they could do more, even if it means expanding into the useless Toon theatre which has been up 20 years and they haven’t managed to put a decent show in there once.

Get rid of Doctor Doom and it opens up plenty of space for a major e-ticket. Remove some of the awful food places, build up if required, and get some proper themed dining in there. Update the comic book style, even if it’s to a more modern comic book look. Move away from fantastic 4 completely...nobody cares about it.

The theatre has nothing to do with Marvel or the contract though. Neither does Toon Lagoon.

My point was it’s right next to Marvel, so they could expand into there to make more use of the Marvel franchise, which feels wasted at the moment (despite it having 2 great rides)

This guy and his lady bodyguards deserve a fully themed land and Wakanda environment to inhabit

There are plans for another Marvel E. As of now though they don’t need to do anything more to satisfy the terms of the contract.

There’ll come a point where they’re going to have to start addressing some of these dated areas. It’s a fantastic park, but Potter is making everything else stand out like a sore thumb. They’ll know that.

I think it’s a fair observation, and I love the place. Counter clockwise from Potter onwards could do with some cosmetic enhancements in my opinion. The expectation levels will always be higher with hot current IP and I think after people have walked through Hogwarts they’d be expecting more from Jurassic Park and Marvel.

The majority of River Adventure is currently an embarrassment I’ll give it that. Personally I think Toon and MSHI look great but that’s what’s so nice about opinions.

At the risk of going way off topic surely the next project should be one of the Es planned for Seuss. With Potter getting another E the balance will tip too far away from that corner of the park.

Did I just call the new coaster an E? Oops.

And the next E after that will tip the balance ever further away from Seuss.

I’ll shut up now.

I do like Toon Lagoon but I’ve tried not getting too attached as it’s been rumoured to be on the chopping block for years. The rapids are the best I’ve ever been on, the flume is great fun but lacking strong theming throughout (despite the hugely picturesque final drop). The theatre bothers me...I wish they’d do something there even if it’s a small flat ride.

River Adventure is great but needs an update. There’s a fair bit of wasted space and I think the overall area lacks life and excitement that I should feel here. More easy fixes like the raptor Encounter would add a sense of excitement to the area. I don’t want major new rides, just updates to the general feel of the place.

You should be happy sooner than later. And I agree about the lack of use for Toon Theatre.

Last question from me....why is the Potter coaster taking up so much room? Track length? It appears to be taking up the entire plot left behind from 2 massive B&Ms

They recently spent a small fortune repainting the buildings with "3D paint". They have the bills to prove it too. The upkeep of the land both seen and unseen makes your point pretty invalid. All they have to do is maintain what they’ve had since 99. Hulk and Spider-Man went above and beyond the contract stipulations.

I haven't been in IoA in 3 or 4 years, so I suppose it looks better after this work? I'll be in there with my son's High School band in less than a month, then I'll see for myself.

My only point regarding Universal and Marvel is how long will Universal continue to promote Disney's IPs? The answer, I assume is until they have something worthwhile to take Marvel's place. It has to burn a little bit for both Universal and Disney for IoA to be the home of Marvel.

Info out there states it will be multiple show scenes, AAs, reverse sequences, track changes, and such.

Trust me, neither care.

Remember that Universal made this deal back when Marvel was nearly bankrupt and this was a couple years before the first Spider-Man movie got the Marvel movies rolling, so they probably got a real good deal. The contract says that the licensing cost can only go up at the rate of the US CPI. The value of the Marvel IP has skyrocketed since then leaving Universal with probably one of the best theme park licensing deals you could ever hope for. If they were to go out and license a new IP they wouldn't come even close to finding something with the same cost to popularity ratio. Because of this, I don't see Universal giving it up until the popularity of Marvel starts to wane, if it ever does.

Universal will decide when and if they will give up the Marvel rights. It will do it when they decide to use the space for something else, not when Disney or those here think they will. It is not if Marvel is profitable for them but when something else is more profitable. That is why they are building HP and the Simpson's in all their parks. Marvel is limited to Orlando only as the Japanese contract is up in about 10 years.

when mentioning uni/uso/marvel/mshi, we'd be remiss if we didn't note the seismic impact that little certified hall of famer in the corner had on the futures of all involved and the industry generally

Thanks for sharing, Martin, that’s really exciting!

I hope you’re right about Seuss. While I was the only one of my friends who enjoyed Trolley in the Sky, we all thought Cat in the Hat was dismal. I think it needs an update more than a new ride for Seuss Island, IMO. However, I think Horton Hears a Who could be a very cute ride if done right (if Universal needs Seuss ride ideas)
