Bizzare scene at Philharmagic

Last year when we took our still-in-training 4 year old to the parks, we learned that he had an increasing (and upspoken) anxiety about Space Mountain. He pleaded us to take him on (he was tall enough). Beforehand, I took him to the boys' room to make sure his plumbing was clear. Even though we had fastpasses (short line) and even with the pitstop, we were dismayed when we heard some water pouring on the ground as he stood on the number cue spots right before we boarded.

Many thanks to the castmember who didn't futher upset my near-tears child and exaspirated wife. He ushered us to the exit quickly and without consternation. They cleaned the place up in a jiffy. We cleaned him up and put on his "emergency outfit" that we always had with us for the occasional thunderstorm or worse.

Anyhow, a couple of days later we were waiting in the Test Track preshow when my little one once again give us the "5 seconds anxiety to catastrophe" look. With no chance to make it to the bathroom and no desire to ruin the carpet, my wife whipped out a plastic sandwhich bag and (with no one the wiser) let my little guy do his deed.

I took him on the ride and she took the little bag of joy to the bathroom. A CM even gave her a ride swap so we could all ride together later.

Now, we wouldn't let our kid drop a duece in public, or sprinkle in public like the kid at Phillharmagic, but if you have potty trained a child, especially a boy, you'll know you sometimes have seconds to act before it is too late.

I think some wee-wee in a baggie is better than wee-wee on the Test Track carpet!

I agree with that. But the key is, it was an emergency, you and your wife did not brandish the "bladder bag" for all to see, and then disposed of it properly.

As someone who know where to buy kids underwear in both EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom, I can vouch for small children and "ride anxiety and Disney excitment" Both times it was my youngest, and she was wearing pants/shorts so it was just a matter of changing her, no baggies involved.

What is wrong with people now a days? That is so shocking to me I don't even know where to start. Why would you just let your child drop their pants and be there in all their glory while standing in a LARGE group of people, and then proceed to relieve themselves in a bag, parade it around, and then place it on the floor. I don't understand what the heck is going on in the minds of people these days. We just got back from our Disney trip last week, and I saw more apauling, shocking, frustrating and down right ridiculous behavior during that week then I care to see in a lifetime. I am seriously concerned for my children as they grow up. What kind of a world will it be? The lack of consideration, selfishness, and entitlement that is oozing off of people is unbelievable.

IMHO this is a simple act of disrespect for themselves and other people along with being absolutely GROSS. :hurl:

With that said, we experienced something very similiar about 10 years ago in universal studios. On line a grown woman deficated on the line for King Kong. Not a single reaction from them, they just kept walking like this was okay. We were all so stunned we could not speak. We had to hop over the railings so that we would not walk near it. Once we got up to the front of the line we did tell the kid working. He looked at us like we were nuts until the folks behind us starting chimming in about the situation. It was absolutely horrible!

Honestly, this whole thread is a little freaky with these stories. I'm not sure how you police that, but I sure hope I never run into any of these people in the parks! (Or shake their hands, for that matter.)

Hmmm.....This gives me an idea.....

...But when I do my annual Drink Around The World night at EPCOT's World Showcase next year I may have to bring a whole box of 1 Gallon zip-lock freezer bags with me.:ROFLOL:

ouch. though i do believe that this goes beyond the whole "excusable because its cultural" thing, you're being pretty harsh with the hut thing. i don't know, maybe im just a touchy africana studies minor, but i think the whole huts thing was a step too far. the people that leave urine in bags are not tribal hut dwellars. most likely, they live in a house, like most people. sorry.

well im very sorry if i offended anyone. however, if you live in a house and you think its ok to leave bags of urine leaning up the against the wall you could probably get protective services called on you or be forced to seek psychiatric help or something. this just isnt something a normal person does!

Let's assume the original offender had the same problem you had. They still were way wrong to PLACE THE BAG OF URINE ON THE FLOOR instead of tossing out like you did.

I think you acted just fine. You couldn't possibly get to the restroom and it sounds like you were as discreet as possible. Potty training sucks. I'm glad we're done. We did have to rinse out clothes in the bathroom and parade a two year old in not much more than a diaper for a while. Embaressing.

I'm with the people that say that is just gross and uncalled for. If the kid had diapers on then there was no reason for that to happen.

For goodness sake, I am sure that any CM would let you back to your space in line if you explained that it was either leave the area or leave a "deposit" in the area.

I think that whole situation in the Philharmagic was just plain disrespectful.

That must have been a horrible thing to witness at Philharmagic, but it was probably worse for the CM who came across the baggey.

OMG I am totally appalled! What culture is this acceptable in???? It is one thing when I little child does who doesn't know any better, but when the parents applaud it! Totally disgusting and not to mention unsanitary!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I knew a mother who was in the process of potty training her toddler & she didn't have a problem w/ him "going" in the yard, but in a bag in the park at WDW!
That's just nasty! :hurl:

Maybe the reason they used the bag was because they didn't have anymore diapers??? How does a Disney Employee call that in I know what a protein spill is...That is very gross and unsanitary

I mean I am in shock that a CM didn't say a word to these people, and yes ok I'll be honest I mean I've been on road trips before where my guy friends have used a bottle to take care of their urinary needs but thats a stuck in traffic, cops directing traffic after an accident situation and the only reason they did that was b/c if they had gotten out of the car they proably would of been arrested for public urination. But the point of the matter is that if it was a large group they could of easily held the mothers spot while she took her son to the readily avaliable restrooms....:brick:

There is a fad (cult more like it) that doesn't believe in diapers and say that kids can be "trained" at birth. They are very open letting their kids answer the call of nature everywhere, even in sinks in public. :zipit:

Not only was what this person did disgusting (to most of us), but they created a biohazard as well. They should have disposed of it properly to avoid any problems. To each his own, but lets use some common sense too. :hammer:
there is also a fad at our local coffee shop that ever hippy mother in our neighborhood thinks that it is cool to breast feed without putting a blanket over the child/breast.... i mean come on, i really dont want to see your child going to town on your breast while im trying to figure out how many creamers to put in my Hazelnut. :lookaroun

:D... and the key word in that story is "hippy mother"

Enough with the righteous indignation. Who among us has not left a bag o' urine in an attraction queue?

OMG I am about to ____ in MY pants with laughter.....STOP doing that dude! your killin me......If I saw this happening in person I think I would have to be transported by ambulance due to hitting the floor with astonishment and laughter.....:hurl: Really disgusting .....but funny :lol:

I think the problem is parents dont seem like they know how to be good parents. Not everyone is like that obviously, but think about it, maybe this is just where I live but when I go to the mall there are little kids rolling on the floor, annoying people who mind there own business and running around like its recess at school, and parents do nothing about it or worse sometimes they even praise there kids and I dont understand why. If I had a kid and they pulled their pants down, I would take them to the bathroom or tell them to pull them up and not do that in public. People in general [again not everyone] seem like their getting less considerate... not only in WDW everywhere it seems.

I was at the Magic Kingdom on Oct. 24, but I left the park around 1:30 p.m. I went to the Magic Kingdom early for the extra magic hour.

When did this take place (not sayin' that I wanted to witness this)?

Very weird and unsanitary.
