Bizarre SSE schedule?

I just noticed that on the updated refurbishment pages, the Spaceship Earth refurb is no longer listing for Janaury - which alone would be just a glitch or something.. but then in February is lists SSE closed only Feb 9-14.

Odd.. Perhaps they're admitting it's open and just going to close again for the final parts of the post-show install?

chances are it probably will not close again before it's grand opening and just stay open from here on out. from what i've seen the ride is complete with no signs of any changes. although it has had some glitches so it may shut down to fix those problems and the vehicles that are not working properly.

Unfortunatly, it's not a glitch. It's going to be open till feb 9, but until then its still in "soft opening" mode. That means the ending is definitely staying.

Don't you wish while it's closed, they would pull down the curtains to reveal some new and exciting set pieces during the decent portion of the ride and it turned out they were there the entire time, just covered up to test out our reactions. I wish...

Maybe they realized that they need to actually re-install the Cronkite-era finale and are going to do that.

/ wishful thinking.

And what proof do you have of that?

I work there and hear a lot of people come off the ride saying how cool the screens are and how much fun they had on the ride. So far I've heard one complaint about the ending compared to loads of praise, especially from people who have ridden before.

You are obviously not counting those people who get off the ride in stunned silence.

The politeness factor definitely occurred to me - i never got off and went "God that sucked!" loudly, but apparently in the future I need to.

Well this is good news for me atleast. While from what Ive seen in vids it looks just ok, I still want to be able to see and experience it myself, and I will next week. Thankfully. :sohappy:

Sorry guys, people like it. You don't have to believe me, but I've heard so many families getting off the ride saying "That was so much fun!" Hell, I've even been seeing kids my age exiting commenting on how cool it was. An older woman thanked me for making her favorite ride better, even though I have nothing to do with it.

And we are not hurting numbers wise. I can assure you that.

I think that for most people the attraction has always been about the ascent.

Most people remember scenes from the ascent, not so much from the descent.

It's kinda like the descent is anticlimactic for the average guest.

So, it that light, yes I can see how a lot of people are going to be very happy with the way the attraction has been refurbed.

At this point, I hope they fix the star fields that feel as if they got some cheap black fabric and stuck some white lights in it. You can sometimes see the AC ducts, etc around it and it just looks amateurish.

Sorry but it seems like your one of the few that doesn't like it.
There`s more than a few around here

And how about guest satisfaction scores? It`d be interesting to know the exit poll data. We probably never will I know.

Listening to guests as they exit is no real gauge - I bet a lot of tourists spoke about how much they enjoyed Imagaination as they unloaded in 2000.

From what I know it was a local decision to open before February - much like PotC after its rehab; it raised quite a few eyebrows in Glendale. Quite simply, the attraction isn`t ready yet. There`s a difference between soft openings to test a completed system and having an attraction open to guests when it isn`t complete. As stated elsewhere by those in the know, something somewhere occured that shouldn`t have. Lack of budget? I don`t buy that considering the ammount that has been spent on the building by Siemens, not just onstage. Loosely covered walls, old visual effects still hanging then removed, low quality star effecsts everywhere - it appears like a quick-fix when things didn`t go to plan. Yes, there was an incident before Christmas - but I can`t see this having impacted the plans and budget to such an extent we are left with a big waste of space. The simply gorgeous makeover of the ascent just dosn`t add up when you see the oh-so-lacking nothingness of the descent.

Hey,

Just got back from Disney's on January 4th. On SSE, i've noticed 2 things, first, in the middle, there is usually a little boy distributing the journal on the left side. However, he was there, but facing the wall instead of us. Maybe there is an issue with the robot...

Also, as for the ending, i've rode it 4 times and 2 times both faces showed up on screen and 2 times only 1 face showed up.

Talked with a CM and he explained that they are currently working on this bug and the reason for the face bug is that when they take the picture, everyone put's their hands in the hair so sometime it doesn't work well..

Anyway... ride was awsome..
