Bizarre SSE schedule?

I just noticed that on the updated refurbishment pages, the Spaceship Earth refurb is no longer listing for Janaury - which alone would be just a glitch or something.. but then in February is lists SSE closed only Feb 9-14.

Odd.. Perhaps they're admitting it's open and just going to close again for the final parts of the post-show install?

These calander glitches happen quite often. Last week it happen with Narnia. The calander did not say it was closed, but it certainly is. Also the day before we left for WDW in November the Epcot calander said no current ride closings. I even printed it out and have a copy. The reason I knew it was a glitch, is because I knew SSE was not going to be open but also CC & BW were not on the list. I was thinking of bringing the printout to Guest Services and complaining about SSE not opening by it's original schedule, but all that would do is make myself and the person at guest services both have a bad day. Thankfully I am on the boards and knew what was happening.

I feel the same way. I love the new ride in general. The part that I hate the most is the decent back. It is just plain boring. I had a car that the screen was out and the only option that I had was to look at another cars screen and stupid black material. Please fix the decent.

I think that for most people the attraction has always been about the ascent.

Most people remember scenes from the ascent, not so much from the descent.

It's kinda like the descent is anticlimactic for the average guest.

So, it that light, yes I can see how a lot of people are going to be very happy with the way the attraction has been refurbed.

you couldn't've put it better for me. I've always loved the ascent but i found the decent to be quite poor. I just remember the silly fiber optics and how bad they looked.

SSE has always been about 'communication through time' to me so 'm sure i'll enjoy the ride even though the ending is still boring.

Makes you wonder out of interest how many of us remember the Cronkite ending (or even Perrin!)

- in its day it was a truely fantastic ending chapter to a great ride.

Listening to guests as they exit is no real gauge - I bet a lot of tourists spoke about how much they enjoyed Imagaination as they unloaded in 2000.

Nope. I NEVER remember a time that the exit hall didn't look like the 'Imagination Death March".

The only two attractions that I always saw people visually upset, and saying bad things about it were Journey into YOUR Imagination and the Goosebumps Horror Maze. The latter I have a very fond memory of a Cast Member telling people at the exit to go to Guest Relations to complain about.

I think (like Pixar) the best way to understand how people like it, is not a survey or a focus group, but to just be there and "feel" the crowd. First time on SSE, no one seemed to have strong feelings. Last time, there was a VERY postive vibe coming off.
