Biggest Disney Pet Peeve

I'm not going to try to convince you of anything. I have argued with people that refuse to see something staring them in the face before and who chose to argue to their last breath about it. Not interested in doing that anymore. You made a statement that seemed odd so I checked it out. Within 5 minutes I had both stays priced out. Facts are facts and those are direct prices from BOTH sources. Staying offsite and renting a car cost almost 2 times as much for a 10 day/9 night trip. If you don't believe it then so be it. Have a great day. :D
I agree that staying offsite costs more in time and money. We've done both, and I would rather stay at a value resort on property than anything offsite. When we stay on site we do not need to rent a car, pay for parking or worry about transportation to/from MCO. If we want to go back to our room during the day we hop a Disney transportation system bus. We are also annual passholders and get a discount on our resort room.

Who am I going to believe, you or my lying eyes. LOL I got a good deal at ASMo for an average of $115/night. The cheapest hotel that I would even consider staying at was $89/night for that time frame. $25 difference a night for a total of $275 in "savings" but then rent a car and pay for gas and tolls and parking and that more then eats up the savings. IDK where Goofyernmost stays at that is cheaper then that and is not a rat infested dump. Staying off site when compared to a deluxe hotel is a given, but not all of the Disney resorts are $300+ a night, as we all know.

What about people that just get up and leave all their trash sitting all over the QS restaurant table? I have watched inconsiderate people do this when they are sitting closest to the trash cans.

What is worse then leaving it on their table is when they pick it up and put it by the service counter where you get toppings and silverware etc. We have people do that at my job, they leave dirty dishes where the self serve coffee is. So gross.

For the record, my niece , her husband and young son, plus her brother and his wife are going to WDW in October and asked me to check into prices for them. I got them a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath condo 12 minutes from property in a gated community for $550 for a week including taxes. Their rental car (full size) is about $250 (tax + fees included), for a total of $814.00 They'll have a zero-entry pool on premises, a playground, gym facilities, and movie nights, as well as their own private hot tub, and their own washer and dryer. They'll eat breakfast every morning at the condo, which more than makes up for the parking fees at WDW, and they'll each have the privacy of their own bedrooms. My husband and I have stayed there often, and know it to be clean and quiet. They couldn't begin to get that on Disney property without spending a lot more.

That's what I'm talking about. Of course we can find three or four star hotels off property that are cheaper than the value resorts on property. Unfortunately as soon as you add in all of the extra stuff you need such as rental car, gas, rental car insurance, and parking then it's no longer a deal.

10/7/16 to 10/16/16

All Stars Music: $837
No rental car
No vehicle gas
No parking fees

Clarion: $1743 (Cheapest non-Disney hotel)
$550 rental car (being generous)
$100 vehicle gas
$150 in parking fees
You are not comparing apples to apples. I don't know what the Clarion is like, but, it would have to be way, way better then All Stars Music. You are trying to compare a 4 star to a 2.5 star or you are comparing rack rate to a special offer. Who pays the rack rate anyway? $550 for car rental? Are you renting a Rolls Royce. $180 tops for a week in central Florida. $100.00 for gas? I drive from Raleigh, NC to WDW and back for $94.00 with a Cadillac Deville V-8. $20.00 per day parking fees. Big deal. I never have paid more then $60 per night in any offsite hotel. 5 star... NO! I'm only there to sleep not spend untold hours in the place. And I am usually within two miles of the welcome sign in WDW. I haven't been to All Stars, but, I have stayed in POP and the bathroom in a Quality Inn is bigger then the entire room at POP. OK, slight exaggeration, but, there seems to be some discrepancy in your numbers there. You didn't say how many days you are talking about, but, using the parking fees, which also are incorrect now, it's 7 days. If it is 7 nights for accommodations, then the most I would be paying is $420 to $500. Quite a distance from $1743. Anyway, I have already said the if one wants to stay onsite, then that is fine, but, those numbers you are using are not even close to actual costs. Add in meals that would average $45. per day offsite, $315. per person, and that isn't McDonalds. They may be chain establishments, not all, but, the food is just as good as on Disney and the bill is to die for.

So let's let other people know that if they are struggling with having the money to go to Disney and they would like to, there is an alternative to staying onsite. Many, like myself, do not have a problem with driving in the area, it is made to sound worse then it really is... I wonder who's spreading that rumor. I don't need 24/7 immersion to enjoy it, and I suspect that I am not the only one that feels that way. I can take a 10 minute drive to any type of restaurant I want and do it exactly when I want to without having to have a reservation or worry about getting there on time or I can use Counter Service. To me that beats old magical rodent to pieces. That is especially true if you either go offsite or you cannot afford to go at all.

Someone said "rat invested" when referring to offsite accommodations, which thanks a lot for the insult, but, even if it were true (it isn't) should we mention the number of rats that are wandering around the food areas all over WDW and every resort has a food location whereas not every hotel offsite is also housing a restaurant. So who has the rats, you might ask. I'm OK with you not wanting to pursue this because you have done research and know better, however, I have the credit card statements that say otherwise... that my friend is fact and what you are putting out there as fact, is nothing more then who you asked.

My biggest pet peeve is that what's left of the club/nightlife scene is now at Boardwalk and there's no direct buses there or back from other resorts. And if you miss the last bus back to Magic Kingdom, you're stuck taking a cab or uber back. I wouldn't mind so much, except that it's on top of paying a cover to get into the clubs. My friends/family have just started bringing our own bar supplies to the hotel and quietly creating our own nightlife.

I'm more annoyed that as soon as I was old enough to enjoy Pleasure Island, they got rid of it... and Disney Springs is just a glorified outlet mall.
We stay at either BWI, BC, or YC quite often and we walk the lake circle which includes the Boardwalk stretch, stopping in the clubs and lounges, almost nightly while there. The only one that charges a cover is Jelly Rolls.
Also- I disagree about there being no night life at DS. No, it's not like Pleasure Island, but there is a lot of energetic activity in the evening in the lounges, many of which have an outdoor area as well.
Things do start to wrap up on the early side (midnight or so) but if you get an early start it's all the same and of course it never hurts to have nightcap supplies back at the room. We fly so we don't travel with glass bottles but the onsite markets have a good variety of everything we need including tools like corkscrews and glassware.

Give me the name of that condo please. Because the ones I have researched that are that price have horrible reviews. Bed bugs, dirty units, etc. I truly believe in most things you get what you pay for.

It's in the Terra Verde resort in Kissimmee. We have stayed there numerous times and never had a problem.

You are arguing apples to oranges. Again, have a nice day. :)

Oh, and $42 a day is not Rolls Royce rental prices. Sorry to burst your bubble. $42 a day for 10 days and $130 for rental insurance (don't argue with me about the merits of rental insurance) = $550.

Back to pet peeves...

People who let their children pee on the side of the trails (especially in AK).

People who get to the registers at the shops and then decide to get their money out and suddenly realize they don't have enough and start bartering with the family on what they will and will not buy.

People who stand in queue and sneeze or cough without covering their mouth.

Not enough TS locations in MK.

Early closing hours for AK.
