Probably just an air out day! And I'll bet her husband did know it!It was crazy, with kids on the bus.

Expense isn't the issue as much as it is the desire to stay onsite. Offsite you can save so much money on hotels and meals to way more then make up for the car rental and even give you extra to explore other things in the area. So, it boils down to, how important is it to stay onsite for you and your family, to me, it isn't important at all. To many it is very important, so it becomes a compromise, but, cost is not really an issue, you give up one thing for the other. On the tram there is no standing so everyone, can be close, but, I have never felt closed in at all.
Oh, I definitely would have told her that her hoochie was showing. We rode on the bus, with a woman, that chose not to wear panties, and she was exposing herself to anyone sitting across from her. On purpose, hubby sitting next to her had no clue. She had three little kids with her.
You haven't looked very deeply into that because almost any mid-range hotel, close to Disney, is much cheaper then a value at Disney (and way bigger and more comfortable) and by the time you factor in the cost of food, being forced to eat and pay Disney prices, you can still pay for a car rental, even paying the parking fees at the parks. I know I do it all the time. I also have the situation where I need to have a car with me even if I don't use it. I need to know that I have an escape from the prison feeling I get when staying onsite. That's me I realize, but, it still comes out being cheaper. There are many safe, nice hotels in the area. With them it's competition not lower quality that determines the lower price.I think it depends on how many are in your group. I go solo and priced out a cheaper hotel close to WDW. It was cheaper for me to stay at a value and use Disney transportation, then to stay off site and rent a car, pay for parking, tolls, gas, etc. If you can stay in one room at a value, then it is cheaper to stay on site if you can get a deal. At least compared to a hotel that I would feel safe staying at solo.

That works for you. I have rarely seen it work out for others (including myself). It usually costs more for those that I have talked with to stay off-site than to stay on-site.
My rental car for 7 days next week is 88$. Out the door. But I stay onsite. I like options.
You would have to do a lot of talking to convince me of that. I have seen the prices, I know what I have spent over the years, and I can do probably two trips for the cost of one onsite, however, that said I don't just go to see Disney. There is so much more of Florida that is interesting and scenic. So, to each his own. I don't have any problem with someone that is willing to pay extra for that (and I still believe it is pay extra) just don't tell me that I don't get the full experience out of WDW that those that paid the high price did. That works for you. She was laughing about what she was doing. Saying something would have probably resulted in the smirks and laughter she was already engaged in. When we got back to AoA, I called the manager and told them what happened. The time and where the bus was going, food and wine at Epcot. I asked Disney to do something, as public exposure was against the law. The manager said they have cameras on the bus, and they would confirm, and call in the police.Oh, I definitely would have told her that her hoochie was showing.
That is your right and I'm glad for you that you do feel that way. Why not! However, we constantly hear about how expensive everything is and how Disney is pricing the middle class out. My stand is it doesn't have to be that way. I have always had a great time going to Disney whether or not I stayed onsite or offsite. I usually enjoyed it more when I saw how much I saved, how easy it was to get about and how much variety I had to choose from offsite. But, that is a decision to be made by the individual. I have gone on record as admitting to AADD when it comes to anyplace I go. I get tired of it very quickly and I need new things to see and do. That is my problem, but, that is how I solve it. I understand that you enjoy the way you do it and that is wonderful that you can do that without worrying about the costs. I just have another way of looking at it that I like to tell others about in case they feel that they do not have any choices. They do!Well, to me, Disney does not feel like a prison. It is my happy place that I can go and enjoy not doing anything. I work in food service, have a hubby and kids and take care of my 89 yo grandma. So my vacation time is where I can go and not worry about anything. I don't want to drive or prepare food or anything that is considered work. And I love the food at Disney. I go every year for the food and wine fest and do a a bunch of seminars. There are so many place to eat on property that are different from what I can get at home. I don't want to just go to the local Mcdonalds because it is cheaper. I don't go to WDW because it is just any old place to go on vacation. I LOVE WDW. I feel carefree and happy there. I love the weather, the beautifully landscaped grounds, the little lizards, the birds, the palm trees. And the fact that I do not have to worry about anything. Disney picks me up from the airport, I just have to hop on the next bus to go to the parks, the resorts have everything I need, etc. If WDW is a prison then put my away for life!
I am with you on this. I did research quite a bit for this upcoming trip and found that nice hotels that I am willing to stay at were priced at or above the value resorts for my stay. I am not, as a single woman, going to stay at some dump several miles away just to save what, 100 bucks? It is not worth it to me, plus the hassle of a rental car and gas and tolls, etc.
I have stayed offsite and never again, the rent car, parking tolls, gas eat up anything you might save and I'm not going to take the time to eat offsite. Like someone else said when I am on vacation I am on vacation, I don't want to drive or cook or any of that. I am just happy to stay inside the Disney bubble. You would have to do a lot of talking to convince me of that. I have seen the prices, I know what I have spent over the years, and I can do probably two trips for the cost of one onsite, however, that said I don't just go to see Disney. It's great for some, just not for me, but, if I hear people saying that they cannot afford to go to WDW, then the first thing I ask is if they have considered staying offsite, because it is a lot more flexible and a lot less expensive, that part I do not think is opinion on my part, I've had the comparisons to prove it. I do not care to be surrounded all night by large plastic objects and stuff that I will not see or appreciate while I am sleeping. I relish the idea that I do not need any ADR's at ginormous prices to enjoy my stay. I love that I can get what I have a craving for the day that I have it and not try to anticipate 6 months in advance what I will be in the mood for. I really love not standing in a long hot line waiting for a bus and then being sardined into the thing with 70 other hot sweaty people all tired and grumpy from a long day at the parks. But, if that is the thing for others, then fine... it really doesn't affect me one way or the other. But, let's at least acknowledge that one pays more for that experience, which is fine, but, that doesn't alter the fact that a visit to the theme parks can be a lot less expensive overall.
