Big Thunder Rumour

If they are going to put a tie-in in before the movie, my guess it would be a few static figures spread around the ride. Its a fast moving train, no need for complex figures that could break (cough-cough) or to spend alot before they know if the film is a hit. A cast of Ranger on Silver on a hillside, or Tonto peaking up from behind a rock would be cute, not really infringe on the ride, a easily removed if the film flops. Sounds like something Disneyland would do: "Summer of the Lone Ranger" with lots of little Lone Ranger pluses, mini-shows, and minor ride enhancements.

Except that John Lasseter clearly stated that he wants attractions and tie-ins coming out day & date when a new film is released. Thats why Carsland will open alongside Cars 2 in theaters.

Its nothing new really Walt Disney himself did it.

While that is true Cars is an established franchise while Lone Ranger is new, even Jack Sparrow had to wait. just look at it this way I'm glad we don't have Eddie Murphy in HM

They ruined POTC w/ Johnny Depp...
No, they didn't. POTC is, and always shall be, awesome.
(Except for the nearly 40 year old lights and audio, and being half the length of the original...)

Anyhow, yes I have heard of a refurb on the way for BTM...but not anything about putting Lone Ranger in it. That....I gotta call shenanigans on.
I think that, perhaps, just came up in a meeting at some point while trying out ideas for potential Lone Ranger park tie-ins.
Like someone saying, "If the movie is a hit, we can put the Ranger in the parks somewhere. Maybe an animatronic on Big Thunder?"

Let's hope not. I'm all for synergies but they need to retain some classic rides as is. I'm not to keen on the Depp addition. Seems like a waste of scarce dollars to me.

Always thought the same thing, since the rest of POTC is falling apart.

(The other AA's, Speakers, effects...)

I'm surprised at some of the negativity of the Jack Sparrow AA in POTC. Even though its a dreaded character tie-in I thought they did a fantastic job of integrating him in where he doesn't call too much attention to himself but its still a great treat to see. Besides, they had more ambitious plans on the table to include Will Turner fighting skeleton pirates like in the movies which would've been bad IMO.

I just watched the 'Must Do's', and Big Thunder isn't mentioned....makes me wonder, because the must do's are Splash, IASW, and Dumbo...I don't know anything, but it is curious...

The only Lone Ranger rumor I heard was the report by Jim Hill that if the movie was a sucess they would build a stunt show in Disneyland's frontierland for it (and I would assume clone it at the studios in florida as a possible replacement for Indy).
