Big Screen Tower of Terror Being Erected by Disney?

I agree with several of the thing said here. I'll go further: make it in black and white, and set within the same structure as a Twilight Zone episode. Obviously substance (script, dialogue, character development, acting, etc.) trump the style (cinematography, narration style, music, etc.), but I still think that could really influence the movie.

By the way, perhaps the term "erected" is a poor choice for creating a film. I really thought there was going to be a large screen built somewhere near the attraction.

I think there is potential for a good movie here, provided they get the right people behind it. Otherwise, why bother, wait for the DVD.

I was very skeptical of POTC, but they surprised me and everyone else when they knocked it out of the park. I would love to see them do the same with this.

While I would like to see this done well, sadly, I think this just points to the lack of any real imagination and creativity in Hollywood when they turn to re-makes and a theme park attraction. But, as we've seen, sometimes it works. If this does work, might we soon see Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and God save us all, It's a Small World :hurl: eventually on the big screen?

Love the black and white idea. They could make it the opposite of Wizard of Oz and instead of b & w to color, the TZ movie could start in color and go to b & W once the characters enter........."The Twilight Zone"

Next concept may still be "The Jungle Cruise"

May be? I thought that was officially announced a long time ago? Did they quietly give up on it since?

No...I disagree.
They can make a great ToT movie for $90million (HM's budget).
The budget for the TV movie was far less. Like less than $10million.
All they need is to get the script right.

Actually, I volunteer to write it for them.:lookaroun
Please?

You may not have to. Disney just needs to see if Jerry Bruckheimer is busy and whether he is up for the challenge.

This movie in my opinion has great potential. From the article I read on Dark Horizons.com, it looks like the movie is going to be set in 1939. Thats a good starting point I think. We'll see where they go with this, but for now I'm kind of excited to see what they do.

Jerry Bruckheimer is about the last person I would contact if I wanted a story-driven film.

I recognize that he can do the "genre" of popcorn flick well, but unless it's going to be an explosion-fest, I'd really rather keep him away from the film.

It could be very good if it is done more like Pirates than Haunted Mansion. But I want to see it scary not funny scary and by scary i dont mean a gore fest like current horror movies (Every Horror Movie from 90 and on) a classic horror movie like Nosferatu, Halloween, The Shining something to that extent. But odds are Disney wont make it scary.

It's possible to switch between scary and funny and I've seen a few movies that do that quite well. Certainly Disney will not make a gore filled movie but a scary movie with plenty of "comic relief" could work really well. The Shining was funny in spots but that is to JN's credit. He made that a great movie. Perfect example though of what I would hope for in a TZ movie.

Not that this is saying much, but the first Tower of Terror movie was better than the Haunted Mansion movie in my opinion.

Just to make everyone feel better the old ToT movie was a Wonderful World of Disney Special. not a Disney Channel Original Movie. Whatever brad it was from, it was still amusing, if not the greatest thing Disney ever did. I'll take it over HSM anyday.

A new ToT movie? I thought they had to finish Jungle Cruise first?

If they take the PG-13 more mature Pirates approach, and, if they don't get the rights to The Twilight Zone for the movie, at least use that style, this could potentially be awesome.
