The thing is, it's not just a simple comparison. They are reporting over-all resort hotel occupancy levels at 90%. That is actually higher than a hotel operator would really want, as there are always rooms out of service for one reason or another, and having only 10% available gives them pretty much zero leeway. So the statistics tell them that they need more hotel rooms.

Then on the other hand, you have more people joining DVC that are looking for more options for where to stay, so they add more of those as well. The other thing to remember - if a DVC room isn't being used by a member, or if a member uses their points for a cruise or swap out to RCI, then those rooms are given to CRO for cash reservations. With a few exceptions, you can usually find DVC rooms available for cash at most resorts. Of course, certain categories, such as 3 bedroom grand villas, will rarely go for cash, and many will not have anything available during the busy times.

I do not think SWL and TSL will draw very many people who weren't coming to WDW in the first place. I don't think it will be like Potter. Also Potter took a while to really gain numbers, at first sure there was a bunch of people who came to see the new attraction but it's more a steady overall incline in attendance at Universal. Universal also upped the amount of hotel rooms drastically.

We will see as always. Doesn't matter to me spend theme park guys, spend, build, do something new.

The one twist to all this is the US is way over do for a recession. The things I look at seem to tell a story of continued economic strength but the US is over due.

One way to solve this is demand pricing for park hoppers. Add an Any Park-to-MK hop-to surcharge and give a MK-to-DHS hop-to credit.

I don't get what's taking so long for the spine project to get underway. Is it really that major of changes? Some of it i.e. The scrims and tarps can be taken down now. For this to not be done until 2020 there must be something bigger to this project than we know of
