the wow factor is SSE. there was never a wow factor in the central core imo. And a fountain would be nice but certainly not omg amazing as some seem to believe.

The synchronized water show at the Fountain of Nations was pretty great, especially in the 80s and 90s. Not that it was some kind of "OMG you have to see this" thing, but it was really nice and added a lot to the area.

They could have done an updated version with modern technology.

General philosophy of TDO (and Burbank) for a decade (or more?):

There was a wow factor to Fountain of Nations.
I guess not to you, I find that odd...
In any event, if there wasn't a wow factor with the previous fountain - wouldn't this have been the time to remedy that?
Because no matter what anyone may have thought of the FoN, that planter is certainly not a step up.

Maybe it’s because I’m from Las Vegas where we have seen many fountains come and go, and maybe it was particularly impressive in the 80s, but I just never really got it. I’ll take it a step further and say the FoN’s stair-like base was really ugly, but I get that that’s not what people loved about FoN anyways.

Just checking, how are planters being received in Vegas in 2024?

Even when they hyped up Splashtacular..Imagine how it would be now if they did it it Dreamers Point..

And IMO I'm surprised they haven't used this segment from on SSE's beacon of light show.. It would be great for Either Festival of the Arts or F&G festival. And a nice nod to a past Epcot show..

Watching these videos, makes the removal of FoN an even more terrible decision.
We talk about kinetics a lot with Disney and how important they used to be.
There was so much movement.
Meanwhile water is removed left and right.
The massive structure in the Polly replaced by a little backyard statue.
The river and riverboat are going.
20K left decades ago.
FoN is gone, replaced by a light display that doesn't work.
Even if those lights did work, and I did like the footage from their one functional night - the display would have only been visible in the dark.
