Experienced the central spine for the first time last week.

Overall, I like it. I think it is a slight improvement over what was there before. The omission of a prominent water feature, which has been discussed ad nauseam, is glaring. That being said, the central hub is successful. This is a permanent World’s Fair and the sense of community this brings is really great. Just a solid, sleek area that will only improve with the opening of CommuniCore Hall.

And, I’m sorry, but the original plan would have been cramped and that building was ugly and was financially inaccessible to an average guest.

The main negative: the lighting package is great when everything works. But it doesn’t, and it comes across as cheap and hastily put together. And, frankly, they need more of it. And I could barely hear the Spaceship Earth show music when it was playing.

Spot on. I'm not sure if I would say it's an improvement over what was there before, but it certainly feels less dated and is a massive improvement over the 2019 plan.

Could you refer to how it would be cramped? Which concept art.. cramped because of the unbuilt Festival Building?

Guest flow would be an absolute nightmare and the rest of the offerings, imho, look poorly designed and placed.

Ahh I forgot about this, even though the paths look more fun, had that festival building been built and regular people couldn't experience it, it would suck, and also destroyed those epic views of spaceship earth from world showcase!
Thank you :)

That and FAR more dead, green space.

Listen, I’m all for the gorgeous foliage and greenery that have added to the hub, but there is so much unused space in this first iteration. I think they made a great compromise with the version in place right now. (Minus the lack of fountain).

Many of the concepts even the last one what we got appeared to look like the walking path coming from the front would descend down a slope to the central area. I thought different elevations would be cool for this area.. it doesn't look to me like any of that is now...so everything looks flat. Even that separate yellow path that goes up to the festival building seemed fun just to walk on..

Maybe they can add a fountain when they tear the non functioning lights out of the ground.
Walls will be back up anyway.

I want to see Epic Universe booming with kinetic energy from so much fountain and water areas, elaborate spectacles that Epcot over on the other side looks dry Disney will file suit we need a fountain or something lol.
I'm sure EU will provide that same kinetic energy and surfeit of fountains they are renowned for as seen in Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.

What's the status on the lights now? Do they not light up at all, or are they just no longer sync with everything else?
I passed through the area last night and most of them were on, but locked to a solid green. I don't know if this ever changed because I was only around for a few minutes and never went back. All the other lights were similarly green, yet Spaceship Earth wasn't, so I'm inclined to believe the plaza lights were either locked or just really out of sync.

I would say 80% of the ring lights were on, but there were a handful of strips that were still out.

Same. Basically from I could tell from my nights in the park, they're locked to a pattern but all sections are working. But the nights I was there they would change to green, blue and red, or purple randomly. I'll take it until they get it all figured out.
