EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

So have we lost all hope with the ground lights? Was the big fix back in December a complete swing and a miss?

I'd like to be wrong, I don't have much faith at all that they will really dive in and tackle this the way that they should.

I would call their attempt a foul ball.

I for one have lost hope. The planter with the broken ground lighting is the worst thing about EPCOT’s “successful” renovation of the former Future World.

I dislike this even more than the rust (finish?) that is all over Celebration Gardens.

Celebration Gardens. What are we celebrating? Poor design and poor execution?

Is that such a bad thing though? It worked for EPCOT for so long, lights in the ground are cool. These follow the design in the pavement just like the current EPCOT ground lights do, just not a complete outline

The fiber optics never looked like cake sprinkles.

Perhaps they will return to using palm trees in those locations.

Those had been needing to go for a while. The symmetry had been lost due to damage or disease in the other trees.

I wish they would, but I'm sure the flag poles were their idea of a cheaper option.

No, not weird at all considering the state it was in. The ones that were there had become really scraggly and were not positioned well since their opposite partner trees had been removed. But it would definitely be nice to have something with a bit of height added back to the landscaping.

I don't think they'll dig it up at all, which for me is the real problem.
Too much money and too much work on their part.
I believe they will take the cheapest way out as possible.
Maybe turn the ground lighting off, replace the covers with opaque covers, and call it a day.
What they ought to do is demo the whole thing and put a fountain in.

There must be some sort of tree project going on at Epcot, I also noticed tree replacement happening in Japan, Morocco, France, UK and Canada. Would be nice to have the palm trees back here. Also over the years several palm trees have vanished in the world showcase plaza, not sure if that was done on purpose for firework viewing or not, but it’s very noticeable if you ever see old pictures/video

I kinda like this change, the old trees were overgrown and asymmetrical. If they could add some palm trees like they did back in the day that would be nice...

the current entrance still looks miles better than leave a legacy.

At this point, I’ve gone from “why can’t maintenance fix this” to “good for them”. Obviously, if a park maintenance team keeps fixing it and it keeps breaking, I’ve got applaud their commitment to do as much as they can under their circumstances. This is not giving WDI/Disney parks/experiences/ground light boogaloo a pass, but there’s a group of people that has committed enough to try to keep fixing as much as they can, and have to say I appreciate it.

At least it seems like the new installation is more easily repaired than the original one, I guess?
