Just noticed the shape of this light fixture looks like an Alucobond panel on SSE.

I’ll be honest, I’m genuinely not understanding why so many people are flat out hating the gardens. Yes, they took forever to build it, but I’m honestly tired of hearing that now. On its own you CANNOT say that it’s objectively worse than what was there before, save for the fountain and lack of water features. I just don’t get why people are so upset.
I'm not seeing that many people upset on here. Seems like most people (who are complaining about anything) are just complaining about the lack of a fountain (like me).

I’m more talking about on Twitter. People here seem to be generally positive about it, but on Twitter there are so many people acting like it’s the worst thing they’ve ever seen at a Disney Park

The gardens themselves aren't an inherent downgrade, but the loss of CommuniCore West and the lack of there being any water feature whatsoever drags the stock of the entire plaza down for me. I think a lot of other people feel the same way.

The other site is reporting rusty "benches" (an imagineer told them it was a bench). Apparently they sat down on it and it left behind residue.
Uhhh, were they actually talking to an Imagineer? I mean, maybe it's the angle of the picture, but this doesn't seem like a bench. It seems to tilt backward into the terraced gardens, the outward-facing lip would be uncomfortable, and the skirt at the front also looks to angle backward. Pretty sure it's just a barrier.

That’s just twitter/reddit people for anything. The inverse are the Instagram commenters where Disney could promote literal garbage and they’d respond with “omg CUTE!!!” & heart eyes emojis.

I didn’t notice that at first glance but i think you are correct, those don’t look like benches, the angles are off and the bolts along the front edge wouldn’t make sense on a bench either.

I’d be shocked if it’s supposed to be a bench.

That I can absolutely understand. I personally lament the loss of the FoN, and really wish there was at least some kind of small fountain or water feature to somewhat compensate its removal, but as a whole I think the area looks quite nice. There are a few people on Twitter responding to every single post about the gardens acting like their lives are over because of this lol but I guess they’re generally in the vocal minority. Either way, I’m stoked to finally step foot into the central area tomorrow for the first time in almost 5 years.

Didn't someone say the outer ring was going to be a water feature? Maybe they are just standing the plants in there for staging until it goes active?
People saw the drain installation and assumed it was a water feature.

You shouldn’t build something at that height with that depth if you don’t want people sitting on it, especially when you’ve now spent years focusing on seat walls.

They should know if it looks like a bench, someone will sit on it. Yes they probably aren't benches but if they look sitable, people will sit there.

wait until people start sitting on the rusted barrier wall and ruin their clothes...also note the shoe mark that is already there...I get that they wanted modern patinated surfaces...but there is practicality in design as well...
I like the look of some of the sculptural elements, but so far, it looks like a modern business park...not the central core of a world famous theme park known for innovation...

I agree; people will sit on anything, even if it’s not quite the right height. I just find it hard to believe they were told it was an intentional bench. It’s like telling someone that the curb around a ground-level garden is a bench.

Very glad this grim chapter is almost over. I am really interested to see
  • How hundreds of guests are flowing through the space at once at any given time of day
  • How well it handles times of major ingress and egress
  • What the area will look like in a year

I had similar thoughts -- the area looks nice, but I'm not sure it has enough room.

Hard to tell in photos, though.
