The stream I found today sadly only had the briefest of glimpses of anything construction-related, but it looks like they're currently installing vertical slats over the metal brackets that were added to the support building along the pathway toward The Land at the end of last week. Unsure from this distance if it's framing or decorative.

I’m at the park today and the vertical slats cover the entire length of the building now. I’ll post some monorail photos later

I totally understand the frustration over losing Fountain of Nations and getting no water feature in return. What I don't understand is the anger toward basically everything else. (The removal of the opposing CommuniCore buildings was so dumb, I'll concede that). What has been promised is a center area that feels more intimate and connected than what was there before, lush greenery, interesting places to sit and relax and...the thing I'm most excited about: having the Spaceship Earth light shows extend out into the whole area. It's going to be lovely.

The previous Innoventions-era iteration was just a thoroughfare. Never did I really feel compelled to sit and take the ambience in. There really wasn't one, imho. Apart from the iconic background music and the mist of the fountain, it was just concrete to me. IMHO.

The love isn’t for the Innoventions Plaza.

The new design is specifically intended to be disconnected. It’s no longer part of the organization of the northern portion of the park.

With the whole area being filled with mature trees, how are you going to be able to see the Spaceship Earth light show extend into the whole area?
Sadly, the closing in of the original Communicore Hub with concrete was a well intentioned bad idea...to meet the throngs coming to EPCOT in the early years they thought, more plaza space and walkways... A lot of the original planned and built landscape was paved over and removed. I would have been happier with the project if they had properly re-used the Communicore building they tore down (at least the half they have now replaced) and restored the original Communicore landscape but a little expanded... At least we would have our symmetry back, and it would resemble the beautiful plaza it once was.

I agree with much of what has been stated. Had the design been similar, but reused the original buildings and moved JOW into World Nature itself - not taking 1/4 of World Celebration's main space - I think the ideas would work. But, we're basically getting less capacity than we had theoretically before in exchange for some landscaping that could have just as easily been added with the basic infrastructure there.

(Let alone the YEARS of construction this is taking.)

This entire project (center core) was a waste of money. There were better, cheaper options yet they took the expensive one that somehow is worse overall. We had 4 years of walls for a water walkthrough and a cheaply remade CC building.

We could've had the table but that still would've been a crap move. Why? We know it would've been limited on space, there would be no expansion plan, and it would also cause issues with ops. All just to have a shiny new thing to say "We fixed Epcot".

What we got is honestly funny. All the time and money spent to rebuild what they tore down. A state of the art show with glaring issues that they threw away in the end. We did get Space, Rat, and GotG but I barely consider those part of the overhaul.

It’s wild to think that my local city government can rip up concrete, plant trees, and pave new sidewalks in 1/18th the time that this project has taken

I have seen full a gigantic 12 story apartment building built, landscaped and open in less time than the central core of EPCOT will end up taking....and it was built since Covid... 1n 2021 they had not broken ground...the building had to go up, surrounded by other buildings and open businesses....and yet, they will have it complete and ready in a couple months...while we still wait for Journey Of Water and the central park area of EPCOT to open...

It takes a lot of time putting in that fiber optic we may or may not get.

Five years of walls.

Truly is the biggest insult in company history to its guests.

Five years of a horrible substandard experience for the front of the park with absolutely no sense of urgency and, even worse, no real payoff when it’s done.

It’s a stunning monument to their belief the guests are pure suckers.
I 100% agree with you.

^^^The fact that they ended up canning so much of the project... we got all the draw backs of massive construction and got to reep almost none of the rewards. Goes to show how much of what Disney says they'll do for the parks ends up getting cut back.

It’s a stunning monument to their belief the guests are pure suckers.

And the sad thing is they're pretty much right. We complain and complain but most all of us go back again and again, and the normies never cared to begin with. So I guess that makes us "the suckers"

Simply put, there are people who would defend Disney taking an enormous dump in their lap.

"But, but, they were given a lot of fiber for breakfast!!!!"
I mean, I agree that some people blindly approve of everything, but others endlessly rehash all the things that are wrong with this project, to the point that it’s difficult to discuss updates or express anticipation about anything. Like, saying that you’re glad there will be some seating shouldn’t have to result in a series of posts shrieking that “IT’S BEEN FIVE YEARS.” We know. No one said they were happy with the speed at which the seating was being built, just that they are happy the seating will exist.
