I believe that was Innoventions.
It was, Communicore has been gone since according to Wikipedia 1994. I have never experienced it ever, so Innoventions is the only thing I know and that is what I am comparing Moana.
Martin, you really need to read Wikipedia more to enhance your Epcot knowledge. 😂

Like I said, I rather have Moana any day over Innoventions.

Since, I have never experienced Communicore I cannot say if I would of preferred that.
I think this only works if you're comparing it to the Innoventions that was there before it all got canned. Nearly vacant on both ends. Even back with both buildings were firing on all cylinders it didn't hold a candle to anything that used to be there, and that's coming from someone who fell in love with the park through 2010 Innoventions.

I was very young when I first experienced Epcot when Communicore was still around. I have vague recollections of the cool future tech on display and "touch screens" whoah! All of it was very much of its time. When I later went as a little older kid I was very excited about Innoventions, but I don't think the concept ever fully lived up to its promise. I think the big building tear down is probably overkill, but I am excited for new change at the park. Are there things I'll miss? Sure. As a father (now of 2) I can very much appreciate things that might make them happy. I'll wait and see how things turn out.

Old fixed world boundaries diagram I made (won't let me upload the source image here). Granted Moana doesn't take up that massive of a footprint I gave it, but for general representation it works. Whether or not it's part of the hub depends on what the hub ends up being. By the old footprint, yes it is. But the "hub" is essentially destroyed with it's addition so who knows.

I really dislike this renaming. Feels to clunky. Just rename all of Future World something like Discovery World. It seems to complicated to split it into lands that are then further split into separate pavilions.

You know what is strange, even with my let’s say altered history with EPCOT. It has always been a very special park for myself. I feel like I should give a bit of background.

Going, to be totally upfront the only classic EPCOT attractions that I can remember well is Wonders of Life, and bits and pieces of the Living Seas.

When I was a kid, I remember having super fond memories of Wonders of Life, I really liked Body Wars in particular. I remember Cranium Command to a lesser degree but remember it well enough.

To me it's weird but it's probably because I've known the park with the old names.

It’s like they wanted to take the majority of bad ideas coming out of Glendale and shove them all in one park.

I was talking to someone about various sections of Epcot and mentioned "well for Future World West it'd be nice to see..." and was met with a "Don't you mean World Discovery? They changed the name. There's no longer a East or West FW. They won't let us forget". I totally forgot about the name change because of how odd the park is right now. It sounded to me like they're really pushing the new names internally while the park itself is basically "World WhereverTestTrackOrSoarin'Are"

This is exactly why I am ok with the park getting some more IP based content. It NEEDS attractions. I love EPCOT but man does it need attractions. The park itself is great, their aren’t enough (meaningful) attractions and rides to experience.

Imagine if a company could come up with something original and not based on synergy.

It used to be about balance.
