News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I am of the strong opinion they shouldn't seek to salvage the Future World we knew in half- measures or the solution will be worse than the problem. Go the Sci-fi City route utilizing popular IPs and watch those turnstiles spin.

Oh yeah, turnstiles, like Future-ish World, are also obsolete.
So in other words pull a Tomorrowland 94 on Future World. If the concept of a bright and better future is obsolete. Then I reckon our time as a species is too.

Circle of Life was only one attraction in a whole pavilion and it actually tied in very well with the existing park. Under Iger, It would have likely become "The Land with Simba & Friends" and the whole pavilion would have been turned into a Lion King IP-fest and there would be no attempt made to actually have it fit thematically.

An attempt was made to make a movie that could have things that would fit thematically into the area. It was pretty close to a copy of The Lion King. They worked in dinosaurs into the movie probably at least partly or entirely so they could use animatronics from The Universe of Energy in the pavilion. Quite a lot of money was spent on all of that.

And circle-of-life theme from "The Lion King" fits with The Land pavilion very, very well. That's the biggest difference between a natural fit with an IP and shoving/shoe-horning IP into a pavilion/attraction.

So why would Big Hero 6 be bad? (Not saying you specifically said it was bad, just jumping off of your post). People would eat up Baymax for Epcot if he weren't in a movie.

It has gone global that is all. Examples are found from Elon Musk to Apple's new spaceship building. Future World is everywhere now. It couldn't be contained on several acres in a swamp.

I wasn't commenting on BH6 specifically, just the overall "Let's cram 18 movies into Future World and just be done with it" tone. I could easily see Baymax in a revamped WoL pavilion.

I entirely agree. I wish more attractions used the characters in that fashion. In the Circle of Life, it works extremely well. The Seas with Nemo works too, but that try to cater that to much lower grade level.

What Future World really needs is a touch of Jar Jar Binks. Put him in all the pavilions. Instead of Judi Dench, "Likesa we grandee and miraclee spaceeship." For Soarin', "Meesa Jar Jar, your flying Attendant." For Test Track, "Keepsie your hands, flippers and tongues inside the fastee vroom vroom." At AA, take out Mark Twain, "Yessee, Mr. Franklin, sir, wesee has a brightee future." At Mission Space, have his tongue try to grab Gary Sinise's eyebrows for a touch of humor--"Very intensee."

Oh yeah, no one could be opposed to that. IPs like that are great.

Headache inducing legal loopholes, If I were UNI I would try to sue Disney for breach of contract if only to protect Epcot. Again, I am very unhappy that the movie did well, because that just gives Chapek and his "Sharp Pencil Boys" more excuses to ruin Epcot or Tower of Terror or any timeless classic attraction they can justify turning into a movie commercial. Guardians of the Galaxy, I will hate you until the day I die.
Even if it results in the resurrection of the Dome of Insurance?

I could get on board with a second Starbucks location in Epcot.

I often wonder if they would ever turn "The Wonders of Life" into a food court to improve upon the scarce dining options in "Future World"

The Living Seas: Coral Reef Restaurant
The Land: The Garden Grill
Journey Into Your Imagination: <no restaurant>
Test Track: <no restaurant>
Mission Space: <no restaurant>
The Wonders of Life: <no restaurant>
Universe Of Energy: <no restaurant - but this is going bye-bye anyways>

Any proposed restaurant/food court at The Wonders of Life would probably pay homage to a dead attraction possibly offering vegan/lactose free food options.

Just a thought. :)

I think one food court "The Land" in Future World is enough.

It's true that there's no food on the east side of FW. Food carts maybe?

The entire theme park is a Food Court.

Really, though, Electric Umbrella could seriously use an overhaul or a complete change. That's really the only option in the front of the park. I love the food area in The Land, but my son is super picky so if there's no pizza, fries or nuggets its a no go. :(
