Biergarten questions!!

Your enjoyment of Biergarten will be directly related to your ability to tolerate people sitting 1.5 feet away from you at the (almost always crowded except at really really off-peak times of year) communal family-type tables. I can't stand that - I don't want anyone near me when I am dining and trying to relax. This is a never-visit-again for my brood...

We always have a good time there. Once we were even seated with another couple who we didn't know , and it turned out that she's a member here. (ajrwgirl)

This is the fun part about going to Biergarten and I am a fairly quiet and reserved person until I get to know someone but for some reason I love this place. We have met some really great people there over the years. I think only once did we have a family that was quiet and reserved and did not want to talk.

The last time we were at Biergarten we were seated with randoms who were doing the "drink around the world" deal and it was a fun time, they barely ate but had tons of beers. As for me, I went to town! I liked the cold vienna sausages. I probably had fourths. Then the band played and the people at our table ran to the dance floor and danced the jig.

I dined there on my solo trip last December and really liked sharing the table with strangers. It was one of my favorite TS meals of the visit. It would've been nice if they had the chicken schnitzel that day, but the rest of the selections were very good.

Hey everyone! I am 186 days out so I have only a few days left to firm up our plans. How is Biergarten for lunch? Is there entertainment at lunch time, too? Is there another place in the worldshowcase that you would recommend? I have boys! FYI- we will already have reservations for Garden Grill and San Angel Inn. We are also skipping Le Cellier this trip! Any help would be awesome!!

We went for dinner but I wanted to respond b/c you really have to like sauerkraut. I don't. My DH does. I knew you could get things with out it but everything is served in it or it is around. Like seriously - everything. So it was really hard to get something that didn't have a taste, at least a hint of sauerkraut. I ate a lot of dessert, bread and beer. Not bad, but just saying. :)

Agree, but I think there are more things than just having people sit close to you that will give you a reason not to like it.

We went last September after reading lots of positive reviews of it. Totally disappointed. The atmosphere was cool. The service was mediocre at best (the place wasn't that busy, and we saw our waitress maybe twice the whole night). The food was "meh". The kids did not enjoy it at all. We don't drink, so maybe you need a beer or two in you to really enjoy the place. Overall, I'd say this place is overrated.
