I'll admit, some of his tunes are pretty catchy. However, we all know that being a good musician doesn't mean you're a great person. I'm looking at you Axl Rose.

Because if you give a teenager millions of dollars and no supervision, 99% of the time this is what happens. Yes, you had a safe childhood, and you didn't have millions in the bank and you had leadership.
But you don't know that I had any of that really, other than that I told you that I had military family and self control. Agree to disagree already.

The older he gets the more convinced I am that instead of turning into an Usher protoge as an adult (as predicted he might, especially since Usher found the kid on youtube), he's turning into Robert Van Winkle.

Now now...Robert Van Winkle seems to have on some level transformed into an adult. The hubby and I really enjoy him on 'The Vanilla Ice Project' because he works with his hands. The way he talks, the way he handles himself, and works in that setting shows that he has experience working on houses. That's not a posh, gravy job. If he gets to talking about landscape, too, he knows that stuff. I watch a ton of DIY type shows. The hubby's parents used to have a custom home design & construction business. We have done the stuff we see on those shows so its easy to spot people who don't know what they're talking about. Yep, I love to work with my hands. I can appreciate someone who will work.

Perhaps that's what JB needs, to work a real job doing a hard day's labor. All his preening will never make him a man.

Oh! Biebs has fatherly guidance. Didn't they go get tattooed together???

You are the first person on this forum who I think got that reference! Kudos!

But, really? I've never seen him do any work. I still picture this guy:

Let me ask you, does "spitting game" like that really work? How romantic...

Sometimes I miss the 90s...sometimes I don't. Though, I can still say this is a great song...

As was this!

That being said, I wore parachute pants and lycra shirts and was upset that all I could afford was my BK sneakers.

Actually, it just occurred to me (due to age) that many on the forum may not remember this fantastic artist...and his greatest hit...

And, even less may remember the amazing song that led to his downfall

So, consider yourself edumicated! <grin>

@englanddg, we must be about the same age. ;)

Wanna render a current teen speechless??? Bring out the Rico Suave video. They can't believe their eyes. I can't believe I'm admitting this but when showing them old videos we came across Rump Shaker. They were appalled. So I told them about the mind-numbing 2LiveCrew and they thought I was lying! So they looked it up. They haven't looked at us old folks the same since. LOL!

Wanna shock them? Heh...the list goes on. Black Sheep, NWA, and Cypress Hill. The list goes on.

NSFW - Though safe for MTV

Race riots, higher violence rates, gangs (real gangs, not Beliebers)...the world has changed a lot in 20 or so years.

Though, loved the Rumpshaka / Rico Suave reference, haven't thought about that in years!

I grew up working for a different mouse...but, you may enjoy this:

Far cry from today's "gangsta" music (not that I think it's great...though, as a young teen I loved it)

Had to be all "hard" and ...cause that's the "american" way...
