I think had they sat back and looked at the big picture, also had they known that Frozen was gonna be such a big hit, it probably would’ve been where Storybook Circus is now. Just a hunch.

I don’t think Disney will build a “single-IP” land in MK anytime soon, but I think Beyond Big Thunder (or whatever becomes of that) will be pretty darn close.
Agreed. Either way, that New Fantasyland expansion should have added one more dark ride, even it was on the scale of Pooh, there should have been one more addition.

agree, and instead they took one away when it could have been remade into another. This having to replace something for something else is really tired in their inept short sighted management. And while it can still be done one day, none of us in our lifetimes here will probably ever see a ride in that space again.

Caribbean Plaza isn't a lands, it's part of Adventureland.

Storybook has Dumbo, goofy and pete.
Given this, in a purely theoretical world where we do get Radiator Springs Racers, I’d love to see Radiator Springs as a new district of Frontierland. But, I fear Marketing would INSIST on it being labeled “Cars Land” so they can market it as a huge addition. Although they did allow TRON to be part of Tomorrowland, so maybe not…

Agreed. It isn't much of a stretch visually to have say Santa Cecilia and Radiator Springs share the same swath of land even though geographically they're not exactly neighbors. A strong case could be made to have these IPs within the same area under a newly-themed Frontierland district. Tumbleweed Junction? Eh, it's a work in progress. If the Cars IP is heading for the Magic Kingdom, I'd much prefer it be the single attraction.

If they do build it, they should build an indoor or covered version of the ride. Even if it impacts the ride experience it would be worth it in the FL weather.

It wasn’t the most popular Cars film, but they could do a spiritual successor to RSR with an indoor ride that is skinned like the city from Cars 2 with an espionage racing theme.

Not to spoil the fun, but lest anyone get confused, it seems worth stating clearly that Cars Land does not seem to be in serious contention for the Beyond Big Thunder expansion.
There's a mystery IP that my source told me is in serious contention for Beyond Big Thunder, an IP they thought didn't fit well in Magic Kingdom at all. Cars Land fits that bill, in my opinion, but they wouldn't tell me specifics since it was told to them in confidence.

I read the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District was not playing nice and slowing down permitting and being a pain in the butt. Does anyone know if this will hurt Disney's expansion plans in the parks? Or will they be able to push through? Thoughts?

In full fairness, there are hundreds of IPs that could fit the description of "an IP that doesn't fit well in Magic Kingdom". Cars Land fitting that incredibly broad bill isn't particularly indicative.

Of the various ideas I've heard bandied about for Beyond Big Thunder, Cars Land has yet to come up from anyone trustworthy.

Disney will likely be able to do generally what it wants and when it wants to - but it also seems likely that Disney is going to be strategic with what and when it builds while the CFTOD is around.

It's less that Disney will be stopped from doing what they want and more that they will change what they want to do of their own accord to suit their larger purposes.

Does that help?

Coco being behind BTM just makes so much thematic sense, would provide a location to put Mexican food being evicted from Pecos for creole, is an extremely popular IP and has a fantastical setting that is easy fodder to create a compelling ride. I don’t know why they would deviate from that.
In theory, it makes a lot more sense than what they’ve come up with for Tiana. But who knows, they could take it in some crazy direction that lacks visual cohesion with BTMRR.

What else would they even put over there besides Villains now that Encanto is going to DAK? It won’t be Star Wars. It probably won’t be Frozen. It won’t be New Orleans. It won’t be an original idea. Zootopia? Aladdin? I just don’t see this thing going through.
