Best swimming pool location

Stormalong Bay is large, has slides, and is best if you have kids. However, if there are none, it's hard to beat the lakeside hottubs of Wilderness Lodge.

I think the best swimming pool at Walt Disney World is the 'Goofy Baseball Pool' at Disney's All Star Sports Resort. It's great for people of all ages. I have stayed at Disney's Beach Club Resort, but it was when I was 3 so I do not remember the pool.

Just my opinion.

Stormalong Bay at Y&B is a great pool, but not for younger kids I feel. It is so windy and twisty and has so many nooks that parents who like to keep an eye out on their children will have a large problem being able to find them easily. It's a tremendous pool, but the size and layout may not be perfect for small/young children, whether it is sandbottomed or not. And on a side note, the sand bottom does not cover the entire bottom, or the walls. The exposed parts on the bottom floor and the walls are cement; I had many a scrape from slamming agaisnt the cement ground or pool side. Can't sand sit above a lined pool?!

A great themed pool is Caribbean Beach--the bold colors and pirate themed fortress has been in many of my dreams, even before the first time I saw it.

Stormalong Bay is the best overall pool, but there are several in the next tier down which are all very close.

The Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Coronado, WL, and Dixie Landings are all a very close 2nd.

Stormalong Bay (YC & BC) is centrally located, and within walking distance of Epcot, a short boat ride to MGM, and a bus ride to AK and MK. It's also close to the Boardwalk, which can be a lot of fun.

Stormalong bay, hands down. Many happy memories there as a kid, and you can't beat the sunken pirate ship slide. You just can't. Plus it has:
1. 100% sand covered bottoms, and there's one area called sinking sands where you sink to about ankle deep - sounds lame but it's loads of fun.
2. a whirlpool that's more fun than intense
3. bubbling springs
It owns; best pool on planet earth.

I conquer that Stormalong Bay is tops. Simply a great and fun experience.

Does anyone know if the Bubbles are still working? Last trip in July '03, they weren't--hope they fixed 'em.

Just a reminder. If you are not a guest of either the Beach or Yacht clubs you cannot swin in their pool. You must show your Id from each resort to beable to swim in that pool.

I've only stayed at the Grand Floridian, but the pools are lovely. One is plalced off the main hall, near a bar -it's quite large. The other is on the other side and has a slide, lots of fun. Plus that one is located right at the beach!
There's a bar and food area. Very nice. I do believe you have to have a room at the resort though.

My wife and I always stay at the resorts with 2 pools.

There's usually a "Main pool"...the popular one and a "Quiet Pool" which is usually smaller and less popular.

We prefer the quiet pools at The Beach Club and The Contemporary and The Polynesian Resorts.

On some days it's like we have our own pool...it's just her and I.

We just jump in to Cool off after a hot day of walking in the Florida heat and humidity, we're not there for the slides or other features.

I've never had to show ID to swim in a Resort pool. We go resort and pool hopping all the time.

Since they added the DVC part of the hotel onto the Beach Club, you now have to show ID. The extra amount of people from this area will help fill up the pool. If they allow people to pool hop, it might fill and the the hotel guests would not beable to enjoy the hotel pool. I belong to the DVC not at that hotel, and I also cannot use it. I think and I might be wrong, that this is the only pool that does this.

All of the resorts now have a sign stating that the pools are guests staying at that resort only. It was also in the guide you get on check in.

For example, the WL guide listed the FW pool as being ONLY for FW guests, and vice versa. Do they check everyone's ID? Not always. Is the policy against pool hopping clearly stated? Yes. Is it OK to do it? I think it's wrong, but that's my own personal morality. Lord knows people do far worse. Let YOUR conscience be your guide. :animwink:

BTW, I loved SAB at Y&BC, BUT my son was around 9 and a swimmer. I was still a little uneasy, because it was hard to keep track of him. As mentioned, there are lots of twists and turns, and little areas that are difficult to see.

I also like the resorts that have both active and quiet pools. I'm not a hot tub fan (had a bad experience once when I gained an unwanted "souvenir" ) but I do sometimes enjoy a waterslide.
