Back when it was counter service, Tusker House's rotisserie chicken meal was about as good a CS meal as you could find in Animal Kingdom. It's still a tasty table service/buffet option, but I do miss it as a counter service option.

I had Y&Y sit-down the first month it was open in December '07. It was okay, not great, with somewhat slow service. I've read other reviews from that time that weren't very good either. Nowadays it seems to get a better shake and I'd even be willing to try it again.

We had Donald's Safari Breakfast this past September. All the years we've had it before we really loved it. The last time was baaaad. The food was often missing or looked sorta old. One of my boys had a hairy doughnut. The characters seemed rushed and took no time with us. If I hadn't jumped up and made a fuss, Daisy would've scooted right on by. The service was awful and that's not just me being picky. There were other families around us who were visibly and audibly miffed about that, too. One thing that stands out is that this was the first time we ate here after the park was already open. Every other time we made our ADR for close to 8:00. The recent time we ate was 9:45. Maybe by then the characters were getting worn out and the kitchen had slowed down the fresh food because lunch was on it's way. I think I'm finding particularly with buffets we have better luck the closer we book to the start time for the meal.

My favorite all-around meal to have at AK is the Restaurantasaurus. The grilled veggie sandwich (+ xtra cheese!) with sweet potato fries is sooooo yummy. I like sitting in the area furthest from the service area because it's usually empty, quiet, and there's lots of details to gaze at. Restful lunch spot. :D

Yak and Yeti has great QS meals!

Not better than a take-away meal from a good local Asian restaurant, but not worse either. Good East Asian fusion fare. Unless you really dislike rice, you just can't go wrong. Find a spot with a view nearby, and you have one of the best QS dinners in all of WDW.

To be washed down afterwards with tea from the Indian tea shop next door!

Hi Real Mad Hatter. I agree not many really good food options in AK park itself. However here is a thought. Take a bus from AK park over to AKL,
only like a 5 minute ride and you have one of the best group of restaurants
on property. Jiko a signature at AKL Jambo House is outstanding. Boma
also at Jambo House has a great breakfast and dinner buffet. One of Disney's
hidden gems Sanaa is at Kidani Village (DVC part of AKL). It is open for lunch
and dinner. All really nice choices.

I agree, if time permits go to AKL for Sanaa or Jiko or Boma. It's a hidden gem.

We like Flame tree's chicken and the turkey sandwich, their really good! Also, Yak and Yeti QS but we usually use 2 snack credits and get an egg roll and the chicken fried rice. We've never eaten TS there.

Your best bet is definitely to ride the bus over to the Lodge, which boasts the best assortment of TS restaurants on property...Jiko, Boma, and Sanaa all in the same place?! Seriously!?

If you do want to eat in the park, I actually really enjoy Yak and Yeti. I find the food there to be quite good.

if you want a great dining experience, head to AKL!!!! Jiko and Sanaa are incredible sit downs. Boma is fantastic as well. Boma is a buffet. We have done each and will do them all again. if you would rather stay in the park, we never had a bad experience at tusker house either. the morning breakfast is always fun. have fun and enjoy!:slurp:
