I just started planning a WDW trip for 2010. (Nov. 6-Nov.13, 2010)
It is going to be a family trip. (My husband & I, his parents and younger brother, my parents, sister and 4 year old nephew.)

It is going to be my parents, sister and nephews first time EVER to WDW!!! SO EXCITING! :sohappy::sohappy:

I want to plan a couple of character meals and I already know we are going to do Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast one day. (How could you NOT do this!!)
This is the only character meal I have done so, what are some of the best character meals? I want my family to have the time of their life!!
Thanks!

Tusker is great the best Breakfast Buffet on all of Disney Property, has Mickey and his gang. Very good all around. Second choice is Crystal palace with pooh and his friends. No matter how busy they are they play with the kids, have a parade with the kids at both places. Food is good for Brakfast as well. I do not think that most of the character buffets do not have good dinner or lunch buffets from all we have read on here. So you might want to choose breakfast. It is also a great way to start the day. gets you excited to get out there and have fun and everybody has a full tummy to enjoy theirselves intead of wanting to eat all of a sudden. I am going again this time will be the third and have booked both of these even without our grandson and his parents going this time. Just DH and I. It is just that fun and good food. Tusker is great for adults.. The waiter we had was a good one. After all adults need entertainment as well ha ha. 1900 for breakfast was good food but the characters took too long and the place was packed. Mad Hatter stayed at one table for 18 minutes and then Alice and Mary stayed maybe 2 acted like they did not want to be there that day. Not very talkative, but when they did they sat down at someones table for 10 minutes. It drug out almost 2 hours. But would go back maybe later breakfast at 10 or so we went at 9am.

I haven't done them all but of the handful tried I would have to say try Chef Mickey's....fun atmosphere, classic characters...what more could you ask for?

Crystal Palace and O'Hana b'fast are also good choices.

We've had long waits for characters at 1600 also.

We have done Chef Mickeys..great time..want to do others when next we go..from what the threads say, CRT is very hard to get into..so good luck! The threads als say that breakfast is the better choice for dinning. Have fun!

Poster above ask what more could you want at Chef Mickeys???? I say GOOD FOOD is it very very bland tasting. Tusker has the same Characters and you get good food there. Good interaction as well and has atmosphere for all the adults. Best Juice you will ever have..,.Which by the way all juices and beverages are included in the plan and as much as you want...

I agree with lighteningqueen, Tusker House has great character breakfast.
(I don't think that the food at chef mickeys is bad but Tusker is better)

Your parents first time ??? - in that case steer well clear of Chef Mickeys and Tusker - there're like a mini riot with children running wild.

My favourites are Crystal Palace - done breakfast, lunch and dinner - and breakfast at 1900 Park Fayre.

We did Chef Mickey's and food was so-so. Could get the same food at any buffet around here. Agree that Tusker house is way better, much more choices for great food and a more fun atmosphere. Ohana was also more fun, but you have to like Lilo and Stitch.

I agree Tusker for breakfast, if you did dinner, we always go to the Garden Grill at Epcot. Was thinking of doing 1900 for dinner, I wonder if its as busy as breakfast:shrug:

We love Tusker too! Another suggestion is Cape May at the Beach Club for breakfast. It's not too crazy, food is good and the characters aren't too rushed.

We do CRT for dinner, it's a little easier to get and the food is decent. It's all about the atmosphere. We do that on xmas party nights...

We hated 1900 for the same reasons mentioned in the other posts... sorry:lookaroun

We've had great experiences at 1900 Park Fare. The characters all came by our table soon after we were seated, and then a second time soon before we left. It's also a good excuse to ride the monorail and visit the Grand Floridian.

We love Chef Mickey's too. Tusker House was good, but we'd go back to the others befroe going back there.

We love the Royal Table for breakfast. I feel that Chef Mickey's is sort of crazy and chaotic, and that somewhat goes for Tusker House.

If you would really like some time with the characters to impress the first timers I would recommend Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. It is generally less busy, so the characters can spend lots of time with your kids. We have enjoyed it both with kids and without!

I know this doesn't help too much but honestly I love them all and whatever ones fit best in your schedule I would say do. My kids like Chef Mickey's the best though. They like the contem hotel and being near the monerail. i liked the crystal palace alot too. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

We loved the Princess Breakfast at Akershus. We had 6 different Princesses. They were all great and took enough time at each table, but not too much time. I haven't been to Cindy's so I can't compare it, but I hear that you get a much better Princess selection at Akershus.

My family loved Chef Mickeys as well, but we haven't tried any of the others with the main characters.

My favorite is Akershus royal banquet hall I can never get enough princess:). Make sure to tell the kids to take small bites otherwise theyll end up with a mouth full of food when the characters come and that can be akward and embarrasing:o
