Any updates? I'd be thrilled if it were open when we arrive in September. We'd just be happy with the mid day CS meal.

i actually think they want it open asap, everything seems to have been completed faster than anyone expected i also thought it was strange that on the new maps it just says coming 2012, so many things they have been said about the opening dates are very vague, and to be fair i think once the infastructure is in for the mine train were going to see a huge leap in progressive everywhere else and so that will be a sign of it opening very soon! The reason i think they will push the mine tray infastructure first is that if they get that done, then the crane can go away for awhile (the big crane) and then they working during the day building it up with the are pretty much closed off to guests! i also think they will open up and you will only be able to get into the little mermaid by going by beauty and the beast thus lettling traffic in to the coaster are! fingers crossed lol :)

Based on everything i have seen/read, it looks like October is the best bet for this area, however, i hope that it opens earlier.

We will be there August 8th thru 20th. Any kind of soft opening of new areas would be great. I'd be happy to see the Little Mermaid ride open. If the entire area was open it would be amazing!

How far along are the Castle Walls? They need to finish them to access to the BatB area

Damouse.com posted pretty good photo updates of the area on May 14th and June 2nd, but there appeared to be little or no progress on the wall between those two dates. Presumably they re-allocated the people working on the wall to other tasks.

Well seeing how they haven't hired any CM for the restaurant yet I find it very doubtful.
honestly this does not mean alot, i have been around for a few restaurant openings and i am sure disney is no different....i mean how long do they really need. My guess is the menu and the chef is hired or at least considered. The cooks take 2 to 3 weeks to train, and for all we know will be plucked from various restaurants and be cooking things they already know, lets face it this is going to be a pretty standard fare restaurant, so assembling a team shouldnt take long. Servers with any expierence may take 1.5 to 2 weeks to train. Any other position shouldnt take much more to do. They are definetly not going to train forever because it costs money to pay them not to serve anyone, i also believe like many others they already have people picked for the launch of the new place. just my 2 cents

UPDATE!!!

The correct rumour as actually for Be Our Guest to open in Late July not late June as stated earlier!

This is coming from multiple Cast Members!
Be Our Guest & the area around it is far ahead of schedule!

Again not concrete but heres hoping :D
I am going to agree with those cast members... from the last ariel view it does look like things are comming along very well. They could just as easily loop off the mine coaster and tents over by the end of ariel's ride. Then have BATB and Ariel's ride open. They seem to have a bit of paving left and landscaping. Plus the water features. I am sure there is some detail work but who knows how in depth it is. Oh and those pesky castle walls i think they are probably moving along pretty good, only time will tell but i am hoping not to much of it moves by before they finish

I think people are being a little overly optimistic about when things are going to open. Disney's official word on this is "Holidays 2012" which is Thanksgiving/Christmas time. Even if things are ahead of schedule and we take into account soft opening, I still don't think they are suddenly 3 to 4 months ahead of schedule. Not trying to be a pessimist, just trying to manage people's expectations.

I agree that they prolly wont be going by july but i am optimistic for sept at this point. All the scaffolding is gone, they are on to paving and the walls are being worked on. I see no reason for sept to not be at least soft openings. EXCEPT if they want alot more of the mine coaster done before they open. We will see. I do agree june is out of the question and july is prolly not looking very good
btw just saw this vid of the castle walls http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=JGnJQW9Tj0s#t=42s looks like they havent completely forgotten about them.

My guess would be if it was going to be ready for September, or even October, they would be seriously promoting that. September and October are traditionally very slow months. The opening of the area would seriously help to fill up hotel rooms and get people down here...and Disney would be promoting it to death.

That is a yes and no scenario....I think that sept is a good soft launch and you never really want to promote that....besides I don't tnink they are as slow a months as everyone thinks. Also you don't market what you don't have. My guess they won't market that its actually open till thanksgiving even if it has been open for a bit

I don't recall seeing a lot of promotions nationwide on the carsland opening. When was that again? Is it even open, I haven't really heard a lot about it? The only thing I saw was the promoting during the Cars movie on ABC over the weekend. So I wouldn't expect it to be heavily promoted too far in advance. Last I heard WDW was the most visited spot on the planet, do they really need to promote it heavily to get people thru the gate?

Yeah, Carsland promotion didn't really kick into higher gear nationally until about a week before it opened, although I have heard if was getting local promotion earlier then that.
