10 over hahaha, when I was doing my cp in spring 04 I'd do that and still get passed like I was standing still. On the one hand, this will suck for those who are late (I was never speeding because I was late... lol) but in all truth it is necessary because I don't know how many tourists I watched get almost rear-ended as they came to an almost complete stop because, hey!, that was their turn!

Well, I must confess, during my cp I usually went a little faster than normal. Simply because at the time no one ever got pulled over at WDW. I never even saw any real cops, just WDW security, so I considered myself safe. Though, I was still always passed like I was still, so I guess I wasn't the worst. I'm just used to not having to worry at WDW, so I guess that'll have to change. I was worst in the area where the limit is 35 at the MK entrance. I tend to drive like my dad, which may or may not be a good thing. :lookaroun

Speeding because you're late? What's that? :lookaroun

I've been known to hit the 70MPH mark on World Drive (I'm just excited to get there), but at least it's during the day and on that loooong stretch of roadway where it's safe.

I never see police on Disney property so never felt paranoid about exceeding the speed limit.

Guess I'll have to re-consider.

Try driving for two and a half hours at 70-80 mph and then slow down to 45, speed creep is what that is called and one time I was coming down World Drive at almost 80 on the part between I-4 and the 192 overpass. speed limit there is 45 and 35 in some parts. once I realized how fast I was going I hit the brakes and then used cruise control. I could not afford a ticket.

Just a peice of advise. arriving at a toll booth like on the toll roads or any other booth be careful because they will clock you and ticket you when you stop. happened to me once at a toll booth, it really sucks.

oh, they are. My friend Walt got a ticket in the mail from the Florida Highway Patrol, when a plane clocked him over Disney Property.

Before I left Florida, in the late 80's early 90'sm, the car overpass that just straddles I-4 was built so COPS could nail speeders (I believe this was by the now NASCAR experience I think). Anyhow, I remember driving up that ways and saw some 20 highway patrol cars all lined up for a speed trap, and you could see Senior PORKER with the "magic gun o speed" and the cops just going after each one. What was funny was that shortly there after the cops got in trouble for having an illegal speed trap set up and that the overpass was to be used for maintenance and emergency vehicles to access both lanes since there was no exit close by.

just remember... you can go 5 over.. and not get in trouble.. cops sometimes let you go 10.. but above that they go after you.....

That depends on the cop, I guess. Legally they can stop you if you're going 1 over. I know a guy who got a ticket for going 4 over. He wasn't happy about it and I think he was surprised that he was pulled over for such a small infraction.

But, usually they won't "waste" their time for such small amounts. And usually there are many others to worry about that are going much faster. The only 100% safe way to guaruntee you won't be stopped is to not go over the limit at all.

That said, I usually go about 10 over (sometimes 15 when I'm in a huge hurry) and have never been pulled over. Not that it can't happen. I just make sure I'm not going faster than the flow of traffic and usually am okay.

I've never had a speeding ticket in FL but both of my speeding tickets in Louisiana were for doing 3 over.......68 in a 65 and 58 in a 55. Needless to say I was a little ticked, and in both instances I had other people passing me up.

That is ridiculous. I can't believe the cop would even pull you over and ticket you for 3mph above the speed limit. I guess it was a slow day in Louisiana.

There is a recent story from the UK where the UK Plods took someone to court because they had an apple in their hand whilst at the wheel. And other one where someone stopped by a cop to ask directions. The cop decided that the car stereo was too loud and wrote them a ticket. This was not some chav blaring out techno or rap, but some regular Joe listening to Riverdance

Bristol plod wrote me a ticket because one of my rear bulbs had blown

Are you serious? That is pathetic if you got pulled over in Louisiana for only 3 over because you have to speed for your safety or you get ran over by everyone going at least 15 or 20 mph over. Well, at least in the New Orleans area.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes on my way home from wherever, motorcycle cops park behind the bushes near an intersection close to where I live. They do it almost once a week. One time I was pulled over for going 41 in a 40 zone and the guy driving his Porche going at least 70 in the same zone next to me wasn't. Cops are EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the biggest traps they have set up is approaching the Magic Kingdom toll plaza. Just after the Mission: Space sign, the speed limit goes from 50 down to 35. I know many people who were given tickets for not slowing down for the speed change.

I must definitely take note of that one. I never slow down right where the sign is (though most others don't either). Usually I'm closer to the toll plaza before I slow down. Though it may be a while before I drive down there. We always fly down and for the next 3 years it will cost too much for me to rent a car.

UPDATE:

Its getting worse, Everyday I entered the property I saw at least two cars pulled over each day. While some people are saying things like "Good, people shouldnt be speeding on Disney property" I doubt they would be saying it if they got pulled over by an unsympathetic state cop.

Although at first I thought that this isn't a good idea on Disney's part, but my father reminded me that disney could say that "It wasn't us, It was the police" therefore they could not be blamed.

Personaly I am a fast driver although I do think it is a good idea to be enforcing the Disney Speed Limit. With all of the bad publicity they have been recieving lately a traffic related death would be the last thing the need.

I was acctually going to start a new thread about this, but luckily I searched huh?
