Well that's a shame.

DAK could use some entertainment to give it emotion and identity, and to break up the long stretches of bamboo wall. I haven't seen him in person, but the bamboo statue was not very good, and too reminiscent of de-vine to boot. Better to try some other entertainment.

I guess Bamboo Man should pursue a career as Marvel superhero then!

'On his tour of duty in 'nam Ken's airplane was shot down above the hilly jungles near the Laos border. To survive, Ken ate the only food around: stems of large bamboo. The locals considered it forbidden to touch, saying the bamboo was bewitched. Unknown to Ken, his dna was altered by the bamboo, as his cells renewed themselves entire DNA sequences were replace with bamboo dna. As a result, his cells regenerate unuesally fast, his bones are at once more flexible and stronger, and he has grown to well over eight foot...'

I personally didn't get a chance to see him but my parents did and they were less than impressed. They love DeVine but thought Bamboo was odd didn't like him. They thought he looked cool enough, but the way he moved and interacted was nothing compared to DeVine.

That is what I gathered from the videos I saw of he. DeVine is elusive, graceful and elegant. This guy had more of a warrior vibe. 20 of them marching military style in a parade might be pretty cool. One guy by himself, not so much.

I didn't realize divine and bamboo were 3rd party entertainers. The Rock was really cool. He would need a different name in AK though, and be near other rock work. The rock seems it would be more interactive cause people would want want to see how the costume felt.

Yeah, the Rock one seemed pretty interesting, wouldn't mind seeing him fired for DAK.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Honestly, though, my GUESS would be that, after this short test, they're gonna tweak the costume and the style of the act. I mean, who says that this initial run wasn't just a testing phase?

So, we are saying that WDW is not able to get their own version of Bamboo, or something not copywrited, to greet the guests at AK? This is pretty lame.....:in pain::bawling:

Nooooooooooo! If only he could have stayed a few more weeks I could have seen him.

To be honest, from the video it just looks embarassing. I'll bet he and AK management agreed it just wasn't working. People probably treated him like one of the Buckingham Palace guards, trying to make him laugh and stuff. Also, his costume needed some work - he looks pretty easy to spot with those full fronds in front.

Saw him, thought it was both awesome and creepy, reminded me of a book I read wherein one of the primary enemies turned allies was a master at blending in with his sourroundings. For a minute I couldn;t see the guy, then he moved and was like "Oh there he is" then he stared directlyy at me. Of course at the time we were in that bypath area behind him. It was both cool and creepy. Personally it is a bummer, he should stay more, or be one of those LTM things.

Glad I got to see it.
