Update. we arrived at WDW on May 6th. We did not get our luggage tags prior to our departure. This whole Magical Express, for us was anything but magical. I do know that we arrived on the second day of operation and that perhaps influenced all of the wrenches thrown into the works. Here is our experience:
We arrived at OIAirport from St.Louis at 8:05pm, we went down two floors to the ME check in, we got into the first line to check in, then after a full detailed description of our luggage, we received the paperwork for our group, but they were missing one person on the list and were at first going to charge us an extra $25 for an unauthorized child. after much discussion they said they would "let her go free" even though Pop Century verified that she was indeed on the reservation. so then we went and got into the line for Pop Century, after a bit of time, we loaded onto the bus with people going to Pop Century, Boardwalk, Caribbean Beach and Contemporary. After loading on the bus, we watch Monsters Inc., until we arrive at Pop at about 10:15pm. (not the dvd telling us about Disney) We then get in line to check in at Pop, where we are informed that our luggage will arrive at the resort in 4-5 hours. I requested that they wait to deliver the luggage until 6am, as I really didn't want to disturb the kids at 2am. Well, somehow they got that wrong and about 220am there was a banging on the door and they were there to deliver our luggage! Nice, real nice.
had we known all of that it would have been much easier to have my husband grab the bags while I was checking in for the bus to the resort. One family did that and they put the bags in the storage under the bus with no problems.
